Answer
Blood is thicker than water.Based on the phrase "As thick as two short planks" H20 (water) is one plank and AB+ (blood group) is two short planks, hence thicker.

"As thick as two short planks" is not a common expression hereabouts , but I got "Blood is thicker than water' anyway.
