I thought that a rumour was different to hearsay. Hearsay is a fact that you have not observed for yourself but someone has told you; inamissable evidence in court. A rumour is simply a story with no justification. It may be written down or it may be started by someone who was an eyewitness.
Hmmmm. I looked hearsay up in the dictionary and it said stuff the same way as a rumor. Oh well. That's life
