Brain Teasers
My Veins...
My veins extend beneath the earth,
My hands raised toward the sky,
I can seem to live forever,
Though many times I die.
I cry when I am wounded,
Sweet tears that help me heal,
I mourn and take off all my clothes,
When bitterness I feel.
What am I?
My hands raised toward the sky,
I can seem to live forever,
Though many times I die.
I cry when I am wounded,
Sweet tears that help me heal,
I mourn and take off all my clothes,
When bitterness I feel.
What am I?
Hint
You can tell my age by the many rings I wear.Answer
I am a Tree. The first section refers to roots and the tree's hibernation in winter.
The second section refers to tree sap and the shedding of leaves when it gets bitter cold.

I think the first part gave it away.
I totally agreed with Beckmoose
I agree with you but I thought that I'd make an easy one. The second part was meant to confuse a little and make it not as easy as the first part would be alone. The younger riddle solvers need some for them too.
*~*~That was a good one. I wasn't sure untill I read the hint. Maybe considered cheating to some, but it confirmed my guess. LOL Very Good One~Much Luv~MzPuddn ~*~*
I think that I shall never see,
A riddle like this about a tree.
I enjoyed it, thanks

I enjoyed it, thanks
Very good
good but easy.
I enjoyed it Ty
It was fun, but I got it right away! Well, actually, my first guess was a plant....I got it afterwards though!! I didn't use the hint either!!!
PS: I'm squeamish, so the whole veins thing got me feeling really weak.

Cute riddle. I got it right away, though.
So easy it undid me, spent minutes trying to figure out exactly what kind of tree it was (thought I needed to be specific for the answer).
I guessed a tree right away from the first clue but the rest of the clues confused me.
Although the answer was quite easy, I question when branches became hands and leaves became clothes.
I thought Weeping Willow, so give me points for effort. Good job. Thanks for posting.
My music students just sang "The Tree Song" by Ken Medema for our spring program, so the answer came to me immediatly. (You can find the lyrics to this song on the internet and also hear Ken Medema himself sing it on YouTube with many beautiful pictures of trees.) I love trees at all times of the year! Thanks for an enjoyable riddle!
Very well done. Easy, but beautiful. Thanks.
Suuuuuuuuper Easy. Too easy.
Fun i enjoyed it!
EZ. i got it after i read the first line!
yeah that one was easy
Very good, I enjoyed it, however easy it was. Good job!
great one
Way too easy. I always like easy, but this was way way to easy to enjoy!
Obviously, too obviously, a tree. Maybe specifically a maple, the only tree that has sweet sap. I am not aware that a tree's losing sap helps it heal from injuries, though.
Thought sure someone would point out that the full answer should be decidious (sp?) tree.
"many times I die" - are there trees that live forever?
when it says "many times i die," it means that it hibernates for the winter and comes out in the spring.
that was so easy. I got it after the first two lines
I got it right away too. Unsual 4 me.
It may have been easy, but nicely written! Loving the blossoming trees in our neighborhood now!
I loved this one! Maybe easy, but beautifully written. Thanks!
simple yet fun
I really liked this one. It was easy, but well written. Thanks.
Too easy, another on for the kiddies me thinks!
Sorry, forgot to mention it was beautifully written, thanks!
I like that you said it was for the younger set to be included. That was thoughtful of you. They need to have riddles to solve to keep them interested in our site, so they grow with us, and don't get discouraged and leave.
It was also nicely written. Keep them coming, looking forward to your next one.

Fun, easy and entertaining teaser. I got it very quickly.
I think everyone is too nice w/ their "fun" ratings. Fun always seems to be about 3 stars, no matter what. Be critical, people!
Easy teasy. But entertaining and well written.
I want to be generous with fun ratings. I appreciate people putting their work out for public consumption and critique. Still, I do look for something special to warrant the full three star fun rating. It may be a particularly engaging challenge, a spark of creativity or novelty, or just an appreciation for creative writing. In this case, the riddle was very transparent but I really enjoyed the imagery, rhythm and rhyme of the writing.

I got this right away. For some reason when I hear or see the word "veins" and someone then mentions the ground, I think of roots. Still a good teaser, though.
