Pool: Athena, Dionysus, Eros, Hades, Hephaestus, Hera
Answer
The series is the equivalent Greek names for the planets, which are Roman. When the Romans assimilated Greek mythology, they renamed many of the Greek gods.Mercury = Hermes
Venus = Aphrodite
Earth = Gaea *
Mars = Ares
Jupiter = Zeus
Saturn = Cronus
Uranus = Uranus **
Neptune = Poseidon
thus
Pluto = Hades
* Although earth is not a Roman god, Gaea is Mother Earth in Greek mythology.
** The Romans did not change the name of the Greek Uranus.

I like that one. But what threw me off was Gaea. I was going with the Greek and Roman names, but then Gaea wasn't a god, so I rejected that idea.

I assumed it had something to do with the planets, but since i know nothing of mythology I would have never guessed it. Fun teaser though!
Mythology and Astrology....neither are my forte, but I loved your teaser!
That was way to easy i study mythology and astinomy so that was easy LOL
Athena is Greek.
Great teaser... i thought of everything else except the Roman names those gods are also reffered to as. Mythology's not something I study often, so your teaser had me searching and searching and searching... after all the searching , I still missed the answer. Wow, it's obvious after you read the answer... the other thing I found in my research ,though, was also that each god mentioned has an unclear origin of birth. It was mind-boggling.
I was close but fofgot about Hades... too fun!
I am almost totally clueless when it comes to mythology, so I flunked miserably. Still, this is a great one for mythology fans!
Very interesting, Hmmm

I got this one!! Good teaser
Three years of high school Latin finally payed off.
I LIKE. NOTHING BETTER THAN GREEK MYTHOLOGY.
As far as being a puzzle, it was fine, but I'm nitpicking your scholarship. Uranus is the Latin name, but if you're talking about him as a Greek God, it should be spelled Ouranos or Uranos. Cronos (with a kappa) is a Titan, Chronos (with a chi) is a God. The Romans didn't rename the Gods. They were existing God legends, which the Romans matched up to similar Greek Gods. And we can argue until the end of Chronos (time) whether Pluto is a planet.
But for the purposes of a trivia test, the question works.

Not really a brain teaser, but nevertheless some interesting information that i certainly did not know before. For that, nice teaser.
Barticus strikes me as the sort of person who plays along with Jeopardy! on TV and gets all the answers right. And I mean, ALL of them.
Don't get me wrong, I play along too, but I'll get maybe half the questions right.

I studied greek mythology in fifth grade so i knew what you were talking about, but gea and uranus being there messed me up b/c i didn't know what they were gods of.
We just studied Greek and Roman Mythology in school, particuraly the gods. I got 100% on the quiz, and knew the answer to this teaser! Great teaser!
Just a note, Pluto is no longer considered a planet
Too many years have passed since I studied mythology...
I don't know much as I should about the planets, and I know even less about Greek Mythology, but I took a guess and chose Hades. I guess my subconscious came through for me.
i got this easy. but i thought the pattern was something else.
Interesting. I learned something today, I think. Thanks for posting.
I was lost all the way.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I thought it was something about the planets, but uranus was there already and that threw me off...

AWESOME idea for a puzzle.
Maybe they didn't change Uranus because they had a sesne of humour... Good Job!!!
Actually, they renamed Uranus (The god) Caelus.
SUPER easy!!!!! But maybe that's just because I am addicted to the Percy Jackson books
I almost said athena but then I got it right.
I almost said athena but then I got it right.
I didn't even understand the question. But I said Hades after Poseidon lol
Uranus is Ouranos and is a Titan...
Gaea is named Terra in Roman mythology...
And Kronos is not a god... He's a Titan...

You had to be a student of mythology to get this one!
I missed this one; nice teaser
Isn't Ouranos Greek and Uranus Roman?
This is a terrific teaser that I was not even close to solving. I'm kicking myself for that. Very creative idea, and a perfect trivia teaser.
Really enjoyed this teaser! All of my mythology education comes from Rick Riordan's serieses (plural of series?)
Fun and entertaining teaser. I did not get it. I took a mythology class in college over 30 years ago and do not remember that much of it anymore.
