Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
What in your wandering eyes
Should come clean,
But a miniature slay
And one tiny cheese.
If you push on the lever,
You will get hurt.
Just as true as if you're dirty,
You're covered in dirt.
What is it?
Should come clean,
But a miniature slay
And one tiny cheese.
If you push on the lever,
You will get hurt.
Just as true as if you're dirty,
You're covered in dirt.
What is it?

cute lil teaser, thanks
That is a play off of part of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' isn't it? I liked it!
'a miniature slay' and 'one tiny cheese' were dead giveaways.
The last 2 lines are just saying that once the mouse touches the lever, it is surely dead. Just as a dirty person is surely dirty.

I liked the subtle hints in this riddle that lead us to the answer almost as much as the direct clues do. In the "Night Before Christmas," not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. In the last couple of lines, the word "dirty" makes one think of a dirty rat, and the line "covered in dirt" of a grave, pushing up daisies. Obviously the writer must be aware of the nuances of his words, so I know there must be a good reason to say "What in your wandering eyes Should come clean." But I can't figure why the clean reference. I'm going to change it into "What to your wandering eyes should arise But a miniature slay With cheese as its prize,"so it rhymes just as the second half of the riddle does, to bring it to my group. They like rhyme. I just hope I'm not missing some important subtlety that way. Anyway, thanks for a fun riddle.
