Brain Teasers
Keyboard Mania
Can you name at least 3 words of ten or more letters that can be typed entirely using only the top letter row of a standard typewriter keyboard ?
Hint
There's one in the puzzle statement itself.Answer
TYPEWRITERPEPPERROOT
PEPPERWORT
PERPETUITY
PEWTERWORT
PIROUETTER
PREREQUIRE
PRETORTURE
PROPRIETOR
REPERTOIRE
REPETITORY
TETTERWORT.
If hyphens are allowed, then TEETER-TOTTER (12 letters) is possible, as is TEETER-TOTTERER (14 letters), although the latter is not found in dictionaries. Another possible 12-letter word, POWERTRIPPER, is also not in any major dictionary.

Really hard! Good teaser!!
If "PIROUETTER" is in your verbal REPERTOIRE then you are the PROPRIETOR of a busy TYPEWRITER!
nice comment
pretorture? prerequire?
i have to doubt the verasity of some of these words as several of them are not in the O.E.D
I didn't stand a chance and I don't think I'm alone. I hope somebody got it. I did get Typewriter before the hint tho lol.
Pretty cool!
did not know if i was allow to use a letter more than once.
came up with lots of other words though.

I know that "STEWARDESSES" is the longest word that can be typed using just one hand...
USEFUL, ENLIGHTENING AND KNOWING THE ANSWER HAS MADE MY DAY COMPLETE.
very nice teaser.very entertaining
Well, making your day complete, lmurray, is, afterall, the MOST important thing!
Now, onto the teaser... I also got "typewriter" without the hint, yayayay!!! I didn't get any others. I happen to be a "pirouetter" myself, but I've always considered those French words, although I suppose they're technically English now that they are used by English-speakers for Ballet. I never would have gotten the others either, without looking them up, well... maybe a couple of them. But, that's OK, just means it wasn't easy! Everyone complains when teasers are EASY, but when its very hard, somehow that's not "right". LOL! Thanks for the brain workout, it will be sore tomorrow.

Having never heard of most of those words, I sure didn't get this teaser. Boy do I feel dumb.
Didn't try,didn,t care,not my cup of tea
not just PROPRIETOR but also PROPRIETORY
Ok, too early for my brain to think!! But still a good one.
good teaser

Yikes, even if I did get this there's only four of those words that I even know. Interesting, but too hard.
I have to admit that I felt quite a few of the words in the answer were a bit cheap. There are probably lots of words that you could come up with by simply adding "er" to the end of the word as the author has here.
what the heck is tetterwort, pepperwort & pewterwort?
very nice very hard
That was mind boggling. I'm usually good at word games, but for the love of me I couldn't think of ten. Thanks for the post. I enjoyed it.

Huh?
Only got the hinted word.Tough one.
Actually, the top row of a typewriter keyboard is made up of numbers.
Kwelchans, thanks. You're right and I side with Imurray and Doehead.
PEPPERWORT, PEWTERWORT, PIROUETTER & TETTERWORT?
I have no idea what those are (I assume herbs and ballet) but I am certain that I did not stand a chance on this teaser! Very tough!

I love this one! Really good!
I found three. Am I allowed to show yall?
I found all three of mine without looking at the hint. Wanna know what they are?
Also mine aren't in the answers except one.
Great teaser! I really, really liked this one, I just wish I'd allowed my brain to wake up before trying it...
Hhhmmmmm...
First day on this site. I found a couple of admittedly questionable words that were not on the list. Is it bad form to post them? Anyway, I don't think they're any worse than "pretorture." What is that, Lindy England's version of foreplay?
Excuse me. The top row of my typewriter keyboard is all numbers and symbols. Doesn't make sense to me.
You sir, have just won this teaser.
