Polygons
A boy was told to identify a polygon. The teacher gave him 3 clues:
1. I have 4 equal sides.
2. All my angles add to 360 degrees
3. I'm not a square.
What am I?
1. I have 4 equal sides.
2. All my angles add to 360 degrees
3. I'm not a square.
What am I?
Answer
A rhombus, because all the sides are the same length, all the angles add to 360 degrees and it isn't a square.Hide Answer Show Answer

a rhombus with four equal sides is a squre
No, the difference between a Rhombus and a square (not squre) is that Rhombuses are shaped like diamonds.
This is how you get a rhombus not like a square tilted on its side.

Is a rhombus using same length sides, but it doesn't resemble a square at all.
It's not a square because the sides aren't at a 90degree angle to eachother.

Same thing as a diamond.

if all 4 sides are equal and the angles add to 360 then theey are 90 degrees
Actually, *any* four sided polygon will have angles that add to 360. If the angles are all equal, then you get a square. If you have two pairs of equal angles opposite each other, you get a parallellogram, and if the parallellogram has four equal sides, it is a rhombus.
A rhombus is a quadrilateral with 4 sides of equal length. A square is a special kind of rhombus whose 4 angles equal the same (90 degrees).
