What are the next three numbers in this series?
0, 1, 12, 18, 48, ?, ?, ?
0, 1, 12, 18, 48, ?, ?, ?
Answer
80, 60, 30. Each number after 1 is the product of the number of letters in the previous two numbers in the sequence. Zero (4) x One (3) = 12. One (3) x Twelve (6) = 18.Hide Answer Show Answer

noone would think like u do!!!!
Is it me or is the logic of the first two numbers in the series off? I guess I should have been tipped off by the title. I was working on this, but the number 1 did not fit in the series:
3(2*2)=12
3(3*3)=18
3(4*4)=48
3(5*5)=125 would be the next number.
3(2*2)=12
3(3*3)=18
3(4*4)=48
3(5*5)=125 would be the next number.
I can also say. Ignore the first two numbers. They are just there. The logic of the series starts from there. Oh, well. At least you got Braingle to post it. Braingle won't post my teasers Yea, I am just pouting. I should try to post my own.
Castanz, I did debate on how to start this sequence. I began in the same way as the Fibonacci Sequence, in which the first two numbers, 0 and 1, don't "fit" with the logic of the remaining numbers (since they are not the sum of the two previous numbers)but simply give the series a starting point. Glad you picked up on the hint in the title.
I see the correlation. I just don't like the mixture of math and spelling of words. You could also tie a sequence of numbers with baseball scores or something similiar. I have submitted my own teaser. It will be pure math related. I hope it gets approved.
3(5*5) doesn't equal 125. it equals 75
very interesting....i'm too stpupid to pick up on stuff like that...oh well! Good work!
