I liked this one, too. I told it to my wife, and she came up with a different answer that we also like: Maple Syrup!
Maple tree seeds are the helicopter seeds that fly. When it is actually 'alive' (i.e. part of a living thing) then it is stationary. Then it runs over your pancakes when it is no longer alive.
