Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.Language
The following elements have a mutual feature (it has nothing to do with their chemical proprieties, with the fact that they each contain the vowel "i" or with the fact that they all finish in a consonant). Also, only one of them has another interesting characteristic (it has nothing to do with spelling or pronunciation). What is the feature and the interesting characteristic?
1. Palladium (Pd)
2. Antinomy (Sb)
3. Actinium (Ac)
4. Rubidium (Rb)
5. Gallium (Ga)
6. Seaborgium (Sg)
1. Palladium (Pd)
2. Antinomy (Sb)
3. Actinium (Ac)
4. Rubidium (Rb)
5. Gallium (Ga)
6. Seaborgium (Sg)
Answer
They all start with a three letter word.PALladium, ANTimony, ACTinium, RUBidium, GALlium, SEAborgium.
The word with the interesting characteristic would have to be antinomy, which is not an element. Antinomy is an anagram for the element antimony (Sb).

I got the first part, Iam not so much of a chemestry person so the second part threw me off a bit. but i like it thanks for teaching me something!!!
Very good teaser! You certainly stumped me! Good job.
shabz4lyf and froggy, i'm very glad you took the time to check out and comment on my teaser. Thank you both.
Good one!! I liked it, made me think a little,I kept thinking of chemical symbols, but finally got it. Good job!
Thank you very much for your great comment. I'm happy you like it.
great teaser, but i dont see how it goes inthe trick category.
Only one of them has another interesting characteristic and, it's a tricky one, not an usual one. Thank you for your comment and, i am glad you like it.
Ok I got the first part easily, but my mind kept "tricking" me into not seeing the misspelling (anagram) of the trick one. Fun!
Thank you mejoza. I'm glad you stopped by my little teaser and that you liked it.
I guess this was considered a trick because you TRICKED me into thinking this wasn't a science teaser.
I have seen a correction about this and, now your comment. I will try to explain it as good as i can for everyone, to prevent more confusion, please bare with me.
A science teaser requires understanding of the physical or biological world and the laws that govern it. This teaser is not related to that category, because it has nothing to do with the elements' chemical proprieties, as stated in the body.
Although there is a fine line between puting this teaser in the group category, in which it would fit good as well, there is more than finding a similar caracteristic of the elements. The second part of it is the tricky one and, that is what i based on when i put this one in trick.
I hope this will help understanding better. Thank you for checking out my teaser and for the time you took to leave a comment.

Thank you.
well, I didn't get it...
Sorry Smart Blonde, not impressed by this one.
The three letter word is tenuous at best, and unless one had some education in the are of science, one would have never picked up on the antinomy/antimony error.

I am sorry i didn't manage to "impress" you, perhaps i should try harder to meet your standards...
i still think it shouldn't go in the TRICK category

Good one smarty!! Although I didn't get it, your knowledge of the elements is quite impressive!!
Thanks everyone.
what is GAL?
Ziggy, a gal is an informal word for "girl". If we were to group them by genre, it would be "boys and girls", "men and women", "guys and gals". Thanks.
Okay, there's a difference between a trick and a lie. It is a lie that it has nothing to do with spelling or pronunciation. Anagram? That is the forming of a word by transposing the letters of another word. While technically there is a word, antinomy, it is so obscure that it fails to qualify this puzzle for the 'trick' category, because the point of a trick puzzle is to misdirect you from an otherwise "obvious" solution. This puzzle is all about spelling and pronunciation. The fact that some arcane word happens to be an anagram of antimony isn't tricky, it just plain obtuse.
I suggest you think twice on what you state your comment. Where exactly do i lie? The teaser has absolutely nothing, repeat, nothing to do with spelling or pronuntiation. The trick consists in the fact that one of the words in the list is not an element at all. I only included the fact that the two were anagrams to put a little something extra in it, but that is irelative to the teaser itself. And, obvious is only what you can see. You say a teaser is imposible when you can't solve it, but you say it's plain obvious if you see the answer to is rigt away. Some might have seen the answer, some may not.
Okay, sorry to have sounded so negative, let me belatedly thank you for an interesting and enjoyable puzzle. I haven't yet contributed anything to this site other than comments, so I have no right to simply swipe at your efforts.
I tried to be very clear and precise why I thought that the statement, 'one of has another interesting characteristic (it has nothing to do with spelling or pronunciation).' is blatantly wrong. Since you stated that they were elements at the start, and you supplied the symbol for each element (including antimony), the only real difference is that antimony is mis-spelled and mis-pronounced as antinomy. Your answer that it is not an element violates your premise that it is. Read the first three words of your puzzle.
I love science, and appreciate your puzzle. Sorry about being negative, but I can't help but feel a little more than tricked if the answer violates the premise.

And that is exactly on what the trick consists off. The word is not an element. If i would have said "one of the words has an interesting characteristic", the puzzle wouldn't have been the same.
On the other hand i appreciate your comment. Although i have my own oppinion and you have yours, it's good to see someone concerned of a teaser. And, it's good to see one that reads and solves a teaser, then takes time to consider writing a comment with it's oppinions. Although i may disagree on your statement, keep up the good job on reading and solving the teasers.

Wow, I really enjoyed the discussion on this teaser, it is nice to see disagreements recognized and respected instead of just slamming someone!!! and no I didn't get it as I went in the wrong direction as usual! Good Job!! Love your stuff Blondy
Thank you for stopping by! Yes, it's always better to respect an argument and learn from it! Glad you like it.
I thought you had spelled Antimony wrong & that they were all named for the scientist that discovered them.
Mitz, that is a very good answer! I haven't even thought about that. Great job!
I think that should have been in the "series" section.
if everyone keeps saying its th wrong catergory just change it.
no offense
no offense
good teaser tho
No offense taken.
Thanks for your comments.
Thanks for your comments.
I'm sorry, but to start a teaser, with the words "The following ELEMENTS" and then include a word that is NOT an element is misleading beyond the bounds of a trick. Also, there is some knowledge of science, because how many people other than scientists would know that the word is antimony and not antimony?
Shouldn't this have been a Science teaser, of if you think about it, even a Language teaser?
Good one though. Totally stumped me!

Shouldn't be in trick
