Your assumption is that all planes travel fast. I know some remote controlled aircraft that when put into a slight breeze can stay fixed in space, in relation to the ground. Any bird could out fly a plane in this state.

agreed...it is possible...when the bird is flying faster than the plane itself...

Simple frame of reference trick.
Or if the plane is parked on the ground.
What if its a paper plane?
Nice teaser, but I think that maybe you need to specify what kind of plane, and maybe that would clear it up a little bit.
very good that goes to the heart of einstiens revolution theory
realitivity*
actually to be specific any thing on a moving plane is traveling faster then it because then u are mesuring RELITIVE speeds of the bird and the plane witch is the speed of the plane + the bird...so it must be faster
Good but, I think this teaser should have been placed in the trick category.
There are hawks that plummet down to earth and then take flight after a time. The gravitational force accelerates them to amazing speeds and so can easily outrun a plane.
Oh.
wau!!
Planes don't fly, people fly planes.
slow plane, fast bird
Technically incorrect.
Say an embryo is in the mother's womb and the mother is walking 5 km/hr. Would you say the embryo is walking 5 km/hr? No, the embryo is being moved 5 km/hr.
The plane is flying x km/hr. The bird is flying y km/hr. The bird is MOVING x + y km/hr but not flying x+y.
