they could be living in Norway, where the sun shines constantly for four months of the year, so even at night time the sun would be up, which is real light not artifical light.
I thought it was "fire" which may or may not be artificial. Really good one!
or she could be very stupid and not realize the power went out
Interesting
Or she could have used a candel.
i tought it was the moonlight. some nights you can read under moonlight.
Come on guys! This one was obvious!
why don't you let us send in our answers to see if we can get it right
-Cough- The sun doesn´t shine constantly for 4 month anywhere in Norway. although on the poles it can be day for 6 months and night the other 6 months.

Several possible answers but still a good one.
First of all, my first thought was they lived near the North Pole, but the whole braille thing wsa clever. And to make some corrections, if you have to start the fire, or light the candle, it is considered artificial.
Clever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it could have been that the sun was just setting and they could still see! that is considered night, right?
That 1 is pretty good
Maybe she was reading his mind!
