Loved it, Clever and great
Very good and creative
Nice concept and construction! The solution and elegance hit me at about the same time.
OK, was i the ONLY 1 hu didn't get this? It was clever when I read the answer tho...
Great teaser swaffy!
Another good teaser.
it was clever but it totally confused me
Easy, but cool.
I think this was a lot easier to solve than for you to put it together. You don't have to try so hard.
Funny! It confused me. Good job!
Lots of fun and what was interesting-I got it and even showed how to my husband and he still couldn't quite "get it" -so I guess it's all in how you look at things -I like it! me and the churkendoose look forward to more!
Great teaser!! I actually got it! Great job!
i got both of us in this town but i lyk ur answer better
Easy, but a good one.
ok, so i really would have not gotten it , exept 4 the capital letters. thanx 4 adding those in otherwise, i would NOT have onderstood it at all
thanks I liked this one
Liked it a lot even thought I didn't get it
If you took out the caps it would a good challenge, but I guess we need the occasional "gimme".
easy... but really fun!!!!!!
sooo cute!
sooo cute!
yeah I actually got this one - not usually any good at 'wordplay'
"...ain't big enough...."
EXCELLENT! I love these kind of teasers. Thanks. That will be a new one to add to my collection.

I couldn't figure it out , after giving up I read the answer and it was really clever GOOD JOB
Even though I don't watch westerns, I got this one. Good teaser!
vigo,vigo,vigo....you cannot be serious.....
That was not great, it was weak, lame, boring
Bigswaff, not your best work...but oh well.....

Bigswaff, not your best work...but oh well.....
lame, stupid, hard, and dumb. Srry.
BESA i do these earlier than you do . first thing after i get up i'm easier to please . also easier to confuse . you my friend need to stay more on top of things . thinking yourself clever does not clever make !
watch yourself ! for i am VIGO
watch yourself ! for i am VIGO
thinking of myself as clever is not the case....this was too easy a teaser.....
also, when one lives on the east coast, one is most likely up earlier than those that live to the left of the eastern time zone.....
the huevos have spoken.....
en su boca

Besa - "to the WEST" of the Eastern Time Zone would be better than "left."
I think shrina77 and some of the others who didn't get it are probably just too young. It definitely was a gimme for those of us at more advanced ages ... or who watched our share of Westerns. But it was FUN, and that's part of what we're here for, so thanx, SWAFF!

I got it. I got it I got it. Yes we older western lovers probably did get it a lot easier than the youngsters, but still a good teaser. And Vigo and Besa. just because the teaser was named "Rivalry" doesn't mean you two had to go at it. But Vigo I agree someone needs to take Besa out and teach him some Highplains Diplomacy. Go for it in Spanish or English. I'll sell tickets. Back to the teaaser I thought it was great. I may be getting better at this kind. Thanks.
That was a really cool teaser. I took me a while but I got it
i love you VLERMA !!!!!!!!
kisses , kisses
kisses , kisses
And I love you Vigo....smoochy smooch smooch
i know you do
P.S. check your messages BESA
I cut my teeth on dime westerns so I spotted that one even before I read it.
Oh, this one was WAY COOL!!!! Ya know, at first I thought, "There was a mistake... they left out the 'aint big enough for' in the teaser." However, when I saw the answer, I just had to laugh at myself for not getting it ... (you know, with the letters being smaller than the others...)
EXCELLENT TEASER.... BRAVO!!!!

Cool i didn't get it but it was fun!!!
Thanks for the comments
As for kashby and besamishuevos, I'm sure that your teasers will be much better when you get around to submitting them. .
I would appreciate it if you could keep your conversations in either PM, or in the Message Boards, I don't much like to weed threw complete junk when reading the comments.
Also, for those who said age may be a factor in ability to solve, that may not be the case. I am only 13, but have seen my fair share of Westerns

smee, the "not big enough" was shown by "the both of us" not fitting completely within the phrase "THIS TOWN" and ending outside of this town, because "this town" was not big enough (long enough) for "the both of us", so "of us" had to be outside of THIS TOWN, not the size of the letters.
That was a good one, had two tricks. I wonder if you could have done it with two "of us"'s, one sticking out, so as not to give away the whole phrase as quickly. Anyway, thanks!

Good teaser...I confess that I was making it much more difficult on myself that it really was
it's good i ALMOST got it
if thats even possible?!?!?
if thats even possible?!?!?
I got it!! I just guessed the phrase, because that's a very well-known western phrase. I didn't actually know it because of the clue but whatever. Good job.
*Smiles* Cute n' clever.
who says everyone has to be 100% all the time? cut SWAFF some slack, will ya detractors. i liked this teaser.
nice
Second time around I got it right. I didn't remember it from before when I first started on Braingle, back in 2006. I'm amazed at all the comments made after I posted back then. What a shame.Remember, this is a fun thing we are doing here, so enjoy. I was always taught if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything. So, remember there is always that option. Personally, I thought this teaser was good. Enjoyed it, Thanks again for posting.
Nice SWAFF! easy but nice! I made a similar Rebus but I like yours better!
I cant beleive I missed it when it first came out!!

Loved this one. Easy, but fun. I really enjoyed this one. Thanks Bigswaff.
I thought it was a good one!
I never did get the phrase "the both of us" wouldn't just "both of us" do?
I'm being picky and I did love it - thanks
and hi, Auntie Sis!!

WAY too easy. I couldn't make sense out of how you were trying to say it, but I knew what you were trying to say.
1) I find it funny this was TOTD on this exact day 3 years ago as well (I don't remember these things, just judging by how many comments I got 2/17/06)
2) I honestly don't even remember writing this.
3) Thanks for the comments.

Picky, picky, picky. Just have fun - and this was fun! Thanks!
classic western cowboys and sheriff's saying a shoot out is sure to happen after this line is said
Good one - fun! I liked it the second time around too! And, as usual, I get a big kick out of the comments!
I'm seeing this one for the first time. I'm finally learning how to approach a teaser like this one: I looked at the caps first and saw 'this town', coupled with western phrase, and got it right away (although I thought "isn't" instead of "ain't" and "for both" instead of ...the both!! I'm a language skills teacher, so it's hard to get away from 'proper' English! It's still a "got it" in my book!!)
Received it in email, read the capitol I as lower case L, so threw myself completely off.
Fun then, and fun now. Love it.
Easy, but brilliant!
Add me to those that did not get it. I figured out some words, but just could not get them together. Age is catching up with me. Tomorrow the 17th is my birthday and I am now going to be 92. I feel great!
Have a nice day everyone and I wish I could share my cake with all of you!!

We did NOT "ignore" your comment about "taking it to the forums".
See our reply in the comments for:
"Fisherman's tale" - TOTD Feb 16 (yesterday) - #37647.
Do we get an apology?

LGM said, "I challenge ANYONE here to show us ONE change in Braingle that was initiated by ANYTHING that was discussed in the Forums."
--------------------------------------------
In April 2009 the Growups forum was created after serious discussions in the general forum were often peppered with random, off subject remarks. Adults also wanted a place to discuss topics not suitable for younger ears or eyes
--------------------------------------------
As far as today's teaser, pretty simple for me.

Thank you, jaycr ....
I'll accept that.
So ..... a "forum" resulted in the creation of another "forum"??
Sounds like more MMM, to me.
Did it result in any changes in teasers, quizzes, games, submittal categories, submittal rules, editors (judges), editorial policy, "wait-times" for approval/rejection of teasers (it's over a month, now - and still saying "a week"), editorial admission of contradictions & errors, etc., etc. ??
Still waiting.
Still laughing.

Fairly easy regardless of age. I' think the phrase is known by people who are not fans of westerns as well. At least I am familiar with it and I don't think I've seen more than 5 minutes of a western in my life.
Babe, hope you have a great birthday!

Looking back over everybody who has posted a comment, anybody notice anything distinct about froggygg, vierma, and us (LittleGreenMan)?
Or do I have to underline THAT one to you, also?

My interpretation of this puzzle -
THIS TOWN
is bigger than the both of us.
Happy Birthday, Babe!

Much time has past and here it is 2/17/2018 and another birthday for me. I am now 95 and still on this site. Nice to have all of you that feel like my friends. At least the ones that have been with me for so long.
Nice teaser as I said a few year ago.

Happy Birthday, Babe, and as many recurrences of these annual events as you can possibly stand.
BABE
Although we have never met in person, I think of you as a great friend. You are the QUEEN of Briangle, and the most loyal follower. With that said, I wish you the HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY ever, and hope there are many more.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE! I would like to consider you a friend on Braingle. I read your comments everyday and enjoy them. Your comments are straight rorward, no b.s., you call 'em as you see 'em. I hope you have many more birthdays in good health and happiness.
As for the rebus, I enjoyed it and found it not too difficult. Looking forward to more!

A belated happy birthday to Babe.
The answer to this puzzle was immediately obvious. What took me a moment was to figure out WHY it was the answer. I finally came up with the proper interpretation. It was a reverse rebus for me: "Explain why the following represents this phrase".
