must have been born in the U.S.A.
There is one more requirement. What is it?

Easy, very easy
Clever! Good one!
This was an easy question only in that my hobbie is politics, but It is not entirely true. There are certain cabinet positions that are listed in the line of succession that would allow in certain catastophic events, for a person who was not elected to any office to hold the office of P.O.T.U.S. they merely have congressional confirmation.
before answering, i was going to say that its unfair, since i am from Brazil, and i am not obligated to know american's election procedures, but now i feel incredibly dumb, because was really obvious...
duh!
duh!
doesn't the vice president become president if anything happens to the current one? If that were true would he still have been elected?
Because of the division of Powers between the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary branches, Until 1947 The succession line of who would become the president was firmly held in the Executive Branch which means the order was President, Vice President, and then Nominated Cabinet members Starting with the Secretary of State, then Secretary of Defense and so on. Now in 1947 Congress wanted to try to keep the list to "Elected" official but only managed to get the Speaker of the House of Representatives added Just after the Vice President, But it still reverts back to non-elected cabinet members. There are also provisions in the 26th amendment that would allow for Congress to nominate and "elect" a president under some circumstances. Fortunately we have never faced any situation that would call upon this list of succession beyond the Vice President but the list does exist and can come in to play, Therefore the answer is incorrect.
But is that a REQUIREMENT? If the president is dead, and the vice president takes over, he becomes the president, but he was only elected to be the vice president, not the president!
A vice-president IS elected to the office as being on the Presidential Ticket. While it can be argued the he was not voted on individiually, his
"team" was elected. And if you don't think V.P.s can pull or push away votes, Look at what Dan Quayle did for Papa Bush, Look at Dick Cheney's appeal for G.W.Bush and Look at why Al Gore chose Leiberman for his running mate. All of these guys are elected as First and Second string president. But as for your question, It is NOT a requirement that the president be elected to any office. Read "Executive Orders" by Tom Clancy, while it is a fictional account of the president and pretty much both houses of congress being wiped out all at once, the constitutional law is explained very well.

I'm from down under so I'm not really sure how the Amercian parlimentary system works, but i thought that to become a president you couldn't have been convicted of any earlier crimes! Correct me if I'm wrong!
please note that this next comment is added with tounge very firmly in cheek and is not intended to cause a megga ruck between USA & UK, but here in England we insist that our PM not be a convicted criminal or a lunatic!! (not that you'd always notice by our election results)
This is an old one that goes back before
the 25th Amendment was ratified in 1967.
Since then, we have had a President who became
President under the 25th Amendment procedures
rather than at a general election. Gerald Ford
was appointed by Richard Nixon as Vice-President
following the resignation of Spiro Agnew, and was
duly confirmed by Congress. Ford then became President
following Nixon's subsequent resignation.
Ford lost the following general election to Jimmy Carter,
and so was never elected.

Um, election means "choosing," so in a very real way cabinent members are "elected," just not by the people at large. This teaser is just fine.
