Brain Teasers
Bad Dream
Two brothers were watching a horror film on video late one night. One brother dozed off and dreamed that he was being chased by the crazy man from the movie, who was trying to kill him. In the dream, he hid in a cupboard. There was no sound except his heart pounding, and he had no idea where his crazed captor was. He was terrified! At that moment, the video finished, and his brother put his hand on the shoulder of his sleeping sibling to wake him. The shock at that tense moment was enough that the sleeping brother suffered a massive heart attack and died instantly.
Did this really happen?
Did this really happen?

Of course it's not true! If he died instantly, how would anyone know what his dream was about?Hide Answer Show Answer

the qusetion doesn't ask if anyone would've known what he was dreaming, the question asked, basically, is it possible for the brother too die of a heart attack under those circumstances . there fore the answer would be yes. it is irrelevant what he was dreaming at the time. The answer you gave, does not match the question asked.
Yes it does (see above)! You have to take into thought the whole of the story, not just the circumstances.
Missie, with all due respect you are missing the whole point of the question. The question only asks if the whole situation is possible, it DOESN'T ask if any one would be aware of the dead brothers dream. The content of the dream is never in question at any point during the puzzle. The narration of the puzzle is there to describe the situation, which it does splendidly. But the question is only asking if the story could be true or not.and yes it could be true.
I will give $100/£100 to anyone who can show me in the above story and question where it asks if anyone would or should be aware of the dead brothers dream.

hes rite. the whole thing is completely confusing and the answer does not give a reasonable answer.
thanks Drunky
the question is asking "DID" this really happen, not "COULD" this really happen. so therefore this didnt happen because no one would know about the little brothers dream. If it said "COULD" this really happen, then the answer would be yes.
Yeah!
Yeah!
azn_thug, I am going to respond to your post in almost the exact same manner as mad-ade did in the first post.
The question is NOT asking, "Did anyone in the world know about the dream?" The question is asking, is it possible that this dream could scare someone enough to cause "a massive heart attack?" The answer is, apparently, yes. There is no mention in the teaser about anyone knowing about the dream.
Although I would like to see some proof that this could actually happen.

I don't know if this really did happen or not! It is just to confusing!
you guys are just mad you didn't get it... of course it could not of happened because for him to tell the story the way he did the sleeping brother would have had to survive to tell his dream
the answer is right. If the brother died instantly, then nobody can really claim what he dreamt. They can only claim that he died of heart attack. The question was did this really happened, and the answer is no.The part of the story that the brother died instantly may be correct, but then the story about the dream is not authentic, and if the story about dream is true, then ofcource brother did not die instantly as who else would have narrated his dream.(unless ofcource if we are considering psychics over here.
nice one! hehehe
most above people are thinking too hard....

Thank you for your effort in making this teaser. But your argument is wrong.
This is clever, BUT definitely should be in Trick category. Completely agree with the critics on this one. The teaser asks nothing about whether anyone would know what he was dreaming about.
This teaser/answer is a perfect example of someone saying that a tree that falls in a forest does not make a sound if no one is there.

Reading more of the comments...come on guys...put on your thinking caps! Seriously! This surely could have happened. Just because no one knows about it does not mean it could not have happened. That is not the question. The question is whether it happened or not. So the answer is not "yes" or "no." It's "no one knows."
Here's the thing. This teaser would be much better if it involved a person TELLING this story of the brother's dream. Then you would know that the person was lying. But with this being an absolute question of whether this happened or not, we have no idea.
However...even if you made the teaser about a person telling the story, the person could have known, if say, the brother had been mumbling things relevant to the movie in his sleep at the very moment. So some statement would have to be slipped in there to negate that option.

The teaser is great - and in the right category - and the fact that it has inspired this debate shows, in my opinion, how good it is.
A situation is presented. The question is asked "Did this really happen?" By examining the "facts" as presented, one is able to logically deduce that the story must be false.
