Lazy Sam the Journalist Part 8
Sam the journalist has landed a job somewhere. The problem is, he doesn't know where. All he knows is that it is in one of 6 cities lined up in a row in northern Canada: Eh Land, Hockeyville, Curling Town, Snowburg, New France, and Canada City. However his employer has left clues.
1. Curling Town is 2 cities away from the job's location.
2. Hockeyville is 3 cities away from Snowburg.
3. Snowburg is on the right end.
4. New France is not the location.
5. Eh Land is 3 cities from Curling Town.
6. Canada City is 4 cities away from Snowburg.
7. Eh Land is next to the location and another place that isn't the location.
Sam is lazy, so he is paying you to find out where he is working.

I WANT MY MONEY please
Gimme da money NOW! I win!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
i do not care about the money but great teaser
I GOT IT, SO IT HAD TO B EASY
You can pay me with more of these series of tesers.
I absolutely LOVE this type of teaser! I could use a lot more of these. This one was a bit easy, but I really enjoyed it. Thanks!
If I get no money for getting it right, should I also not get any money for getting it wrong? Is that fair?
Surprise!!!! I Got It and I enjoy this type of teaser, bring them on.
It was fun to work this tease out. Let's see more.
That was a grear teaser... i got it!!!
How boot that, eh?
what would prevent EH & CT from being switched, making CC the answer?
builder, clue 6 says cc is 4 away from snowberg.
liked this one
liked this one
I got Hockeyville, but in a different order.? Well, whatever~! Great teaser, I love this kind !
I got it. Don't know how, but I did.Good teaser.
If you switched EH and CT clue 7 wouldn't work. Good one!
Builder is right. If Eh Land & Curling Town were switched the Answer would be Canada City. Clue 7 could still hold true, Eh Land would be next to CC, which would be the town where the job is, and some other town on the otherside we weren't informed of. I know Canada is a desolate place, but they have more than 6 towns.
Totaly Awesome! A bit too easy, but these are a fantastic way to get your brain in gear. Logic puzzles are always fun to solve. Keep it up
I got it, but I had to use paper and a pen. Cool one!
Good puzzle. Enjoyed it, although it was a little easy. I also think it would have been easy to find real names of 6 towns in northern Canada for the puzzle- not necessarily 6 towns that are actually in order on a Provincial highway, but 6 real towns just the same. Might be a little more inclusive of our Northern neighbors! :-)
Eh Land is between two of the cities. Therefore it could not be switched with Curling Town. It cannot be the last city on the left and still be next to two cities.
I LOVE these types of teasers!!! Excellent teaser...good job!
Good one. these ones always take a few minutes to figure out...
Good Job. Easy, but still took a couple of minutes to figure out.
This was way to easy, but I love, love, love this kind of teaser. Good Job!
Great teaser. I still find these rather hard, but am getting better. I was an English major, but if you can't use logic and READ one tends to stub their toe once in a while. But I did get this one so maybe practice helps. More please?
Pretty easy, but entertaining. Gotta love those Canadians.....and often you gotta love making fun of them.
WO XIHUAN LE ZHEGE. I LIKED THIS ONE! EASY, BUT STILL FUN, KEEP THEM COMING.
ok thanks, I read EH as being a place that was not the location, not as also being next to a place that was not the location.
I thought this would be boring ...so I didn't even try!
Nice teaser, but not difficult. Would like more of these!
I am usually a fairly logical thinker so naturally I LOVED this teaser .! keep up da good work.
I love this type of puzzle. This was pretty easy. Keep it up but let them be more challenging.
Okay, the clue was that Snow was on the right end, not the last on the right. I thought that meant just that it was to the right of center. The order I had was Canada City, Hockeyville, Curling Town, New France, Snowburg, Eh Land with Snowburg being the answer. All the clues fit!!!
I GOT IT, SO IT HAD TO B EASY
yep same here
yep same here
Whoa!!! Eight parts!!! I thought it was a pretty boring teaser. No offense. I just got of a jet ski!!! And tubing, and kneeboarding, and water skiing, and Bonzaiing(tm), ect. ect. ect. I rated it full star/empty gear though. I thought I would have liked it without that memory fresh in my mind. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention EASY!!! IT IS THE EASEIST TEASER ON BRANGLE!!!!!! Sorry, I'm like a genius.
I WANT MY MONEY!!!
It is rather easy for me at least. But maybe that's because my I.Q. is 160 (probably because I made it though)

I'm surprised nobody has the same issue with the wording of the clues as I do. If city A is 3 cities away from city B, that means there are 3 cities in between cities A and B. "Three cities away" says you would have to go through 3 cities to arrive at your destination city. It is different than saying the "third" city in a line, in which there would be 2 cities between. Indulge a football analogy, a football is downed and placed 10 yards from the goal line. The goal line is the destination and is 10 yards away. The goal line does not occupy any of the 10 yards, it is NOT the tenth yard. Replace yards with cities.
i got it. hehe. nice teaser

My answer is
EL CC H CT NF SB
and working station is CC.
Still works

Still works
@talkyboy
Your solution doesn't work - the last clue says EL is next to the location and next to a place that isn't the location. It cannot be on the end.

actually to talk & others, clue 7 is a little vague in that the reference "and another place that is not the location" could mean next to another location or is another place that isn't the location.
This would make CC a viable solution.

loved the teaser! builder, get over it; you have to work within the directions given. And it's not as vague as you say. Besides, it's just a Brain Teaser so don't sweat it.
Just like a jigsaw puzzle. Unscramble the pieces and pretty easy.
I love these types of teasers...very fun got my brain awake!
Fun and easy. My logical brain likes teasers like this.
NICE1!!! BUT TOO HARD, !
Thanks for a great teaser! Nothing like a good old pen and paper to help you with this!! The payment that I request is sending MORE MORE MORE!!!! Thanks!!!
Too easy. You have cities 1-6 inclusive.
Snowburg is 6.
Hockeyville is 3.
Canada City is 2.
Eh Land is 3 cities from curling town, so curling town must be 1 or 4. Eh Land has 2 locations next to it, so it's not in 1. So put curling in 1, eh land in 4 and you know answer is 3 = Hockeyville. Don't need paper/pencil for this.

Direction number 7 is ambiguous. It could be interpeted that Eh Land is next to two locations that are not the 'City'. Better would be 'Eh Land is next to the 'City'. There is also another city it is next to.'
Also two different orderings give the same answer, Hockeyville.
Also two different orderings give the same answer, Hockeyville.
What? No money? You hosehead!!! Fun teaser. I used to love to do logic problems. Might just have to get back into them again.
I do not usually try these, but tonight decided to give it a try and I got it. Big SMILE!
Actually, two of the places exiet. Well sort of. "New France" was the original name of the area that became Quebec , as well as acaacadia, the south shores of NFLD, and Louisanna (all these areas are still predominantly French). And Hockyville exists too, though it changes location. Every year Kraft Foods picks one small town and dubs it "Hockeyville".
The winning town is given a cash prize to upgrade their arena and there is an NHL exhibition game played there.
The little town my sister's kids play for won it about 5 years ago.
Anyway, fun teaser, albeut faitly easy.
And to answer the comment that said he knew Canada was a desolete place, but he thought there were more than 6 towns, he is right. We're up to 10 now.

Got it- I wrote it on paper and the paragraph led to the answer like a road map.
nicely done
Fun, though the town names were groanworthy.
Very fun. Simple enough for me to solve in my head, but it took focus and concentration. I like this kind of puzzle a lot.
I did manage to nail it after discovering the clues were actually incorrect; 4 towns away, means 4 towns in between( not possible if Snowburg, Hockeyville & Canada City are already in place )!
It was fun though, thanks!
It was fun though, thanks!
Got Hokeyville as the answer, but I think the clues dont guarantee a unique order. They also work with the order: Canada City, Eh Land, Hokeyville, New France, Curling Town, Snowburg
