Fred ran a flag making business. Things were looking bleak when, out of the blue, someone called from the Paraguayan Embassy. They needed an urgent consignment of 1000 Paraguayan flags by the following week.
Fred got to work straight away. He got a picture of the current Paraguayan flag, got hold of the required cloth and he and his staff worked without stopping until the flags were dispatched. The business was saved, or so he thought.
Unfortunately, the Embassy refused to pay and returned them all. Fred has now lost his business, but why?

After I read the teaser, I googled Paraguays flags, found it had two sides, and actually got the teaser [learned a bit too!]

The state flag of Oregon also has 2 different sides. It's the only state in the US that does.

I had a different, but correct answer...the picture he took had his thumb in front of the lens and therefore the flag had a picture of a thumb on it.

But I work with Fred and he showed me the photo. The photo showed both sides of the flag.
Good one, fooled me. I was expecting something along the line of it was made of a different material than most flags.
Fun teaser, and I am glad I learned something, but... I feel like people should have a chance to answer it correctly. Unless you know about Paraguay, you probably had little to know chance. It's cool because it makes you think outside the box, but I don't like investing too much time trying to solve a puzzle/riddle that is only answerable with the help of Google.

This is not new. I read it a long time ago, so it is not original. Also it is not a teaser. It is trivia and belongs there.

And seriously, I meant it when I said no offense. Not in a sarcastic way. I apologize if I sounded rude.
As with most trivia teasers it was pretty easy if you are familiar with the subject matter (world flags in this instance). As my eldest used to be fascinated by the subject when he was young I was aware of the different sides on this flag. Not sure I would have solved it otherwise.
Perhaps Fred needs a better reference book. I have never seen the actual flag either but the book we got the fact from showed both sides.

This comes down to whether or not you know the flag. I didn't, but I still enjoyed the trivia.

When I searched it, one of the suggestions was "Paraguayan flag front and back." Clearly Fred just had the wrong search perimeters.
I knew there was a flag with different images on the front and back. I did not remember which flag. But, that was enough to guess.
I knew that because of Braingle. I was curious about the flag icon next to a Braingle user's name, so I search out a "images of flags of countries" web site and scanned through looking for the mystery flag (which was Greenland). The Paraguay two sided flag came up during that search. Thanks Braingle! But why don't the flag images have a text box pop up when you hover over them listing the country?
