How many books did she take with her when she left for her trip?
How many books did she take with her when she left for her trip?
Hint
Work backwards.Answer
Morgan started with 4 books. This is one way to work backwards:
Morgan returned with 6 books.
She gave away 2 of the books that she had.
So add those two books back to her total.
6 + 2 = 8
She had received 1 book that she had not brought with her.
So subtract that book from her total.
8 - 1 = 7
She bought 3 books that she had not brought with her.
So subtract those books from her total.
7 - 3 = 4
She must have left for vacation with 4 books.

great one i loved it
I like this type of short and snappy math teaser - and an easy one is a nice change!
good word problem - so-so teaser
I wouldn't really call this a teaser. It's more of a basic grade school word problem. In other words, this was a really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, easy.
You're the one in the middle. Everyone else and I are the ones that are laughing. The truth hurts. Deal with it.

What Cogmatic said was cruel, and should have been removed from this site. Although that I must admit that this teaser was incredibly easy, it was fun - I was glad not to see just tedious sums which are only applicable to a small amount of viewers (because they are based on things that only people from a certain country/religion can understand). Even though challenges are usually fun, this was one which I think will be a hit with younger viewers. Good effort!
Cogmatic-why do you have to be so mean? There are a lot easy teasers...that doesn't make them any less fun and enjoyable!
And why bother even posting a comment just to hurt someone's feelings? It is a MAJOR waste of time!
Although this teaser was very simple, it ws fun...it's nice to have something easy once in a while so you don't have to totally drive yourself crazy! Good Job!!

Oops...
(was)...not ws!!
A fun teaser, although it was easy!
While I don't agree with how he said it, Cogmatic's assessment of the "teaser" is spot-on. This is a word problem you'd expect to encounter in kindergarten or first grade.
That it has a 2.25 fun and 1.44 difficulty rating is a mockery of the rating system, which admittedly already mostly a popularity contest for the person who submitted the teaser and not a useful rating system.
