Answer
A Kangaroo CourtA kangaroo court or kangaroo trial is a deceptive legal proceeding or court. It may be a court that has had its integrity compromised; for example, if the judge is not impartial. It may also be an elaborately scripted event intended to appear fair while having the outcome predetermined from the start. The phrase seems to have originated during the California Gold Rush from the notion of proceeding 'by leaps' like the Kangaroo.

I've got a Spring cold so my brain is in a fog. Didn't even come close with this one!
Thanks for the terrific comments.
We use the term often here in the land down-under; even outside of the courtroom when one is unfairly prejudged.

Great one! Adding to my faves though I got stumped. Got hung up on "circuit court" and related themes and couldn't let go! Thanks, as always, for submitting.

Ouch. I tried to think on this for awhile, but eventually gave up ... good thing, too, as I would have never gotten it, having never heard the term. Neat to learn something new, though!
Not particularly hard, got it when I finished reading it, but nice one and you've shown me some ideas for what riddles can accomplish. I'm new and can't post teasers yet, but I hope to soon.
