Egg Drop
An egg has to fall 100 feet, but it can't break upon landing (or in the air). Its fall can't be slowed down, nor can its landing be cushioned in any way. How is it done?
Answer
Drop it from more than 100 feet high. It won't break for the first 100 feet.Hide Answer Show Answer

"but it can't break upon landing"
The answer doesn't stop it from landing.
The answer doesn't stop it from landing.
I agree with Emilymonkeymaia, this is an example of poorly considered puzzles. the question clearly states that the egg must not break on landing, yet the answer does not explain how to stop it breaking on landing, instead it twitters on about height.
An actual answer - it's one of those special rubber eggs! lol
How about making sure the egg hasn't been yet....it's still in the bird. This may not fit with all the limits you put on the answer, but your answer doesn't fit your own limits.
Agreed with Emilly.
There is an answer that really works, if you put the egg in a really cool fridge, i guess it will be pure solid, so, won´t break...
this is just a thesis, but might work.

Ok, I'll change some of it - the egg can't break until after it has fallen at least 100 feet. Oh, and SetzerKnight, I don't think that the drop would be short enough nor the egg solid enough to withstand the landing, but hey, you may be right.
no just change the answer to . you break it before you drop it
You could rephrase it by saying, "An egg has to fall 100 feet, but it cannot break when it reaches 100 feet".... or something less cumbersome than that.
I know you had this conversation earlier and this may not be answered, but what if the egg was dropped from 100 feet above the surface of a large lake or ocean. Would this, upon hitting the water, not break, and cover the solution?
boil the egg :p
I like lizard450's idea, because it wouldn't break upon landing. Clever lizard you are.
the egg would still break even in the water. from 100 feet, water is like cement.
I think the answer has no nexus to the question. The question mentioned 'landing'. The answer said it will not break for the first hundred frets..
If u consider the as being on the 100th floor of a storey building. If it is placed on an elevator/lift and the elevator falls hundred feet. By the time it gets to the ground, it won't have broken.
Good puzzle but just needs rewording. It says the egg can't break upon landing, but the answer given doesn't achieve that. Just omit that phrase.
I had a different idea - it could be dropped on a small asteroid with very low gravity, so that after 100 feet it would have the speed of an egg dropped, say, 1/4 of an inch on Earth. It would take quite a while to fall of course.
