Brain Teasers
Anagram Christmas
My father gave me a brain teaser with two groups of words missing. The four words in each group are anagrams of each other. I've solved the first group, but I'm stuck on the second group. Can you help?
Time to decorate the Christmas tree! Putting up the lights was my job, but after that it was time to ENLIST some help. While the kids were busy adding TINSEL, I put on some music to LISTEN to; my favourite song is "SILENT Night".
After we finished decorating the Christmas tree, I hung the stockings on the __1__. Feeling a chill, I looked down and had to __2__ my __3__ lapse; the fire was out. I threw on my __4__ and stepped out into the cold night to gather some firewood. Upon my return, we were soon roasting chestnuts and sipping eggnog to complete a wonderful evening.

Great teaser it had me thinking.

Hmmm... learned something new. Didn't know that a mantle could be worn. Don't I feel sheepish!
Thanks for a great teaser!

=D That was awesome, how you could find so many anagrams. I was stumped the first time through, thinking it was "chimney," due to clue 1, then "coat," on clue 4. Then I put the two together and remembered getting a Mantle in Castlevania. ^^
Good One.
Great, I enjoyed it
Fun. I thought it was pretty easy myself, but it seems to have stumped some people.
I didn't get mantel/mantle ...but I did get lament/mental. Great fun!
QUITE EASY. I QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF YOUR USING A MANTLE AS A MEANS OF WARMTH TO GO OUT INTO THE COLD
NIGHT, BUT THE LETTERS FIT.
NIGHT, BUT THE LETTERS FIT.
Excellent!
yawn
It is a Totally Awesome teaser! It should get anyone to thinking and trying to unscramble the answers! Keep up the fantastic work!
Good teaser for a Sunday morning.
im gunna have to say that i didnt like it very much. i thought it was boring and lacking a surprise answer. i was not impressed but thanks for trying.
I thought it was very good and it was hard. Good job!! It was not lacking in anything. Keep up the good work.
The first 3 were easy. I would never have guessed the 4th. Nice teaser!
Nice one!
Wonderful, I got it and I think it's OK to put on an old-fashiioned mantle for a teaser!
I got mantle and mental, but you got me on the rest.
The hint was a little too easy, but this was a great puzzle overall.
good one-got all but mantle. kind of an old term, right? keep 'em coming
Great teaser!! I was stumped on #4 but it was still fun! Good job!
mantle, noun - 1. a loose, sleeveless cloak or cape.
that is definitely a valid definition
good teaser. i didn't get it, though. horrible at anagrams... oh well

Nice job. Had me stumped on your wrap however.
FUN NE!!!
This was good and also hard. I got mantle right away, then thought it was wrong because I couldn't find the 4th word. I'm old enough to know what a mantel is, but I just didn't think of it. But keep them coming. A lot of thought went into this one.
I suspected mantle, but didn't think it would be so because it was the same word as the first one, and not anagram'd at all. I didn't think the first would be spelled mantel! It just looks wrong! But dictionary.com says that mantle is an alternate to mantel, but mantle seems to more correctly refer to the clothing piece. Darn! Oh well, learn something new every day, and occasionally, it's even here!
Heh, I just had to use the word "mantel" in a report today, and thought it was amusing that this Braingle teaser taught me the difference between "mantel" and "mantle", and so I'm much cooler now than I was last week!
That was pretty fun, once I got the hint!
Nice easy one today.
Good one even though I couldn't think of #4!
I only got 2 of them. It looked like you were to put 2 words in each blank so I was confused.
This one was easy for me because I am familiar with these 4 words all being spelled with the same letters. Thanks for posting!
Nice job, well written.
Nice ez one to start the day.
3/4 I guess I never heard a cloak called a mantle before.
Fun and entertaining teaser; I got all four words with the hint.
I'm with imurray on this one, I don't see how a mantle would keep you warm?
Apart from that it was a nice easy teaser, thanks!

Markw1, all I can suggest is that you don't understand that "mantle" is an old synonym for "overcoat".
