i got it AFTER i read the answer lolz yeah im 1st yipee
Well done. Did get the answers and the bonus, but again, very well done.
What about "gypsy"?
I like that
Clever.
I would contend the bonus question. Crwth is shorter.
There's also "witchcraft" and a few more. Nice teaser! I couldn't get it.
The bonus gave it away for me. And gypsy doesn't count because y is used as a vowel in that word. But I'm not sure ANGSTS is a word. I'll have to check on that.
ANGST is a German word meaning fear. ANGSTS is not a word !!! Therefore I gave this teaser an F.
Angsts is a word. It is the plural form of angst. As in 'he had many angsts about the situation'.
Good one! And even better that I got it right away
they have 5 consonants in a row but not longest word, catchphrase has 6 in a row. just a little tidbit
Cool teaser. Not too easy, but not too difficult.
The ys in gypsy and the w in crwth are vowels, so those words do not have five consecutive consonants.
This was not a very interesting one, but thanks anyhow for posting.
Tsktsks has seven consecutive consonants (no vowel sounds). And yes, it's in the dictionary as an expression of disapproval.
It always surprises me to read that some people really dislike a certain puzzle and others really love it. *I* happen to love this type of teaser. It's so interesting to me to learn things like this about words. I didn't catch on to the answer but I'm going to remember it. More "word" teasers please!
PS Thank you, Spike and Kasie, for your comments!
I got it easily, the title helped somewhat. Also "strengths."
It's hyphenated, but how about "first-string" (as in the depth chart of an athletic team)? It has 6 consonants in a row.
Worthwhile!
I really like this type of teaser. I didn't get the correct answer, but I enjoyed it. T hanks for posting!
If you don't count y as a verb, how about RHYTHMS?
Fairly easy, but not TOO easy. Good one.
They all contain the letter A. NEXT!
Love Tilley's comment. Best part of the teaser.
Vowels are A, E, I, O, U, so Y is a consonant even if pronounced as a vowel.
Therefore I submit RHYTHMS (7 consecutive onsonants and NO vowels at all)
Therefore I submit RHYTHMS (7 consecutive onsonants and NO vowels at all)
