Brain Teasers
So Close and Yet So Far
I saw the happy pair pass by,
Newly wed midst joy and acclamation,
One simple English word thought I,
Exactly summed the situation.
But years have passed and love is slain,
And now they go divergent ways,
For they have been divorced.
Again, one word quite fits the case.
The second word is like the first,
Two central letters just reversed.

I liked it. Extra points for a great-sounding teaser!
Creative, circumspect, and clever! I tried several solutions but none would fit the reversed letter requirement. Thanks for this one.
I did not find this one too hard, just enough to make me excercise the little gray cells. Thanks
My guess was Bliss & Bills. Too common

WHAT I MEANT WAS THAT YOUR RIDDLES STINK!!!! I MEAN THAT MOST OF YOUR OTHER ONES ARE GREAT BUT THIS ONE, WELL..... GET SOME HELP!!!!!
Really clever!! I got the first word but not the second.
I rarely get riddles, but for me this was language; I'm very aware of that pair of anagrams/antonyms, so I got the answer immediately--and the poem was great, too!! Thank you!
Funny...I always notice these antonyms when typing but couldn't come up with it for the teaser! Great job!
When you said the "happy pair" I thought you actually wanted us to think of two people, not a word. That was confusing it seems to me.
I noticed the "united"/"untied" phenomena when I was a kid, so this one came fairly easily to me. Good one, and the poem is written really well, too.
Though I did not solve it, I liked this teaser.. once I saw the answer it was *faceplam*! OF COURSE! How could I have missed it!
well done!
A fun, clever and entertaining teaser. I got the two words rather quickly with very little difficulty.
