oooo kkkk

ok,

Yea, but how did you get there? I could not figure out what equation you would have used to get this.

It's trial and error

that was alot of fun, and was very easy to solve, 5 dogs ate 4 cookies which equals 20 and then 3 cats eating 4 cookies is 12, giving the total of 32 cookies

It doesn't have to be trial and error. Write the problem as a graphic equation with two variables with x being the number of dogs and y being the number of cats:

5x + 4y = 32 or

y = -5/4x + 8

In this case, you know that x and y have to be whole numbers because they represent whole animals, so x must be a multiple of four. Four, in fact, is the only answer that makes sense. Any larger, and the number of cats becomes negative.
