### Brain Teasers

# In the Middle (Double)

Language
Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.

In "Wheel of Fortune", there is a category called "Before and After" where there are three words that link together, such as CHARLOTTE'S WEB SITE. Fill in the answers to these "Before and After" puzzles, and then do a "Before and After" puzzle with the answers to the other two.

Example:

1. WILD ___ FOOD (cat)

2. LADY ___ SPRAY (bug)

3. 1 ___ 2 (litter)

Solve this one:

1. AMINO ___ SALT

2. CHRISTMAS ___ TIE

3. 1 ___ 2

I love these kind of teasers! I don't get #3 though. Can you explain?

OOHHH!!!! I GET IT !!! It is answer 1 and answer 2!!!

Exactly. If the puzzle were:

1. SHAVED ___ SKATE

2. ORANGE ___ POP

3. 1 ___ 2,

then 1 would be ICE, and 2 would be SODA.

The answer to 1 and the answer to 2 make another puzzle. So 1 ___ 2 is the same as ICE ___ SODA, where the answer is CREAM.

I'm glad I read the comments before the answer - and before I voted. I think more people would vote high if you clarify the instructions a little. They do make sense, but ...

Anyway, thanks! I'd quite like to try to write one or two of these; they look interesting ... any objections, Q?

Yes, it certainly needs clarifying! Once you know the idea, it's a tad easier.
