Group
These brain teasers rely on your ability to recognize groups of common attributes. For each of these puzzles you'll need to figure out why the words or letters are grouped as they are. Sometimes you will be asked to pick the odd-one-out or to place a new word into the correct group.Group
Mischievous Casey is delighted when people write her name incorrectly. She sounds so sincere as she very carefully spells it out: "C for chaos, A for arpeggio, S for scenery, E for empty, Y for ____."
Which of the following words is she most likely to select to help with 'Y'?
Young
Youth
Yacht
Yikes!

Answer
YouthAll her choices of "helpful" words sound as if they begin with another letter - K-os, R-peggio, C-nery, M-pty ... and so, U-th!
Although technically correct, it confuses people, and they often make mistakes!

Nice one, i really liked it
Thanks, Radd! The 'inspiration' for this came from listening to my wife (not Casey!) trying to spell our names over the phone. We live in a non-English country and she's usually very good ... but occasionally... Anyway, I'm glad people can enjoy it!
OMG! I loved this! I never got it but the answer actually made me smile.
Great job! Took me a while, but I really liked it.
Nice teaser, dalfamnest! Good to see some good Kiwi teaser makers.
THAT was clever! I LOVED it! Thanks for a good one!
That was great in 2 ways. It was new and it was creative. Although I didn't get it , Ienjoyed it.

Most original and interesting teaser ever! I got it too. And it's funny because it's about clarifying something and muddying it at the same time... very clever.
I was on the right track, but didn't follow through. Very clever.
thanks. I enjoyed it.
I knew someone who used to do things like this. K as in Knowledge. P as in pneumonia. N as in Nary. I guess it helps to have twisted friends.

I liked it but thought of yacht becasue of the silent letter. Good teaser.
You totally got me with this one. Never would have figured it out. Thanks for posting.
Really, really difficult... but extremely clever!
I guess I stand alone for not liking it.
It just did not offer a challenge and the answer was really far out, but glad everyone else liked it. Sorry! Just not my kind of teaser

great puzzler !!!!!!
Gave it TOPS for fun.
Well thought out and constructed.
It's great because it illustrates - so well - one of the idiomatic quirks of our English Language; the various "different" pronunciations of our letter-characters.
Oh ..... the initial intro of this Teaser drew 12 comments.
I'll wager anybody here that THIS reincarnation draws fewer then six.
Ante up, folks. We got TWO thus far.

So, Babe, did you manage to solve it or not? If you didn't manage to solve it, I question your claim that it didn't offer a challenge. In any event, there were many puzzlers who evidently DID deem it to offer a challenge. I am one such, although I also, after cogitating a bit (that was the challenge part) happened to solve it wihout consulting either the hint or the revealed answer.
Thanks everyone! Good to see it enjoyed on its second round - and, yes, I also liked it because it was original.
To add a little topical humour, I have a friend who amuses with his one-liners. I remember him explaining to a student, "It starts with a silent 'p' - as in trousers!"

Y for You, A for Are, E for Excellent at writing teasers! This one is great! Thanks.
I really enjoyed this one, it took me a little while to figure it out, but eventually I got it. Thanks for a good teaser to wake up my brain this morning.
I liked this teaser. It was a good play on words.
Very clever puzzle!! Thanks!
Good to see Brainglers still enjoying this one. Keep writing them, guys!
Is there anyone here that can correct the teaser? It has a grammar problem on the second sentence. It should be "...sincere as she IS very carefully....". I found the teaser fun regardless
Fun and challenging teaser; I picked the wrong word. Enjoyed it anyway.
