Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
On me, bars are laid between front and rear
They create division to keep things clear
If you feel the process is taking long
Despite your boredom, I move things along
My motion is unidirectional
For consumables, meat or vegetable
What am I?

Excellent. I got close but did not hit the target. I started thinking it was an Ice Tray, with dividers and a slow process, but it has no motion. I considered converyor belt, but could not figure out the bars. I never made the leap to the market.
The clues were all there! Based on the difficulty rating, it seems other folks found the answer. Well done!

Thanks Snowdog!
I thought of a railroad track.
Well, that is a pretty good one. It just needs a little bit of thought and "Voila", you get it!
I thought it was a grill...
I got this one, but I have a question: Who is responsible for putting the plastic bar between the separate orders?
My first thought was of product barcodes, but the clues didn't quite suit, then I thought of a conveyor-belt, but dismissed it because of the bars. I rarely see those dividing bars used, and some checkouts don't even have them.
Well done, it was a fun teaser thanks!

Thanks for all of your comments!
jaycr has clearly articulated the leading moral dilemma of our time! I'm a rule follower. How do I behave when there are no clear rules? There is no Miss Manners etiquette book for this. I suppose I'll get over it.
