What an interesting puzzle! I have not seen one like this before. I got the first three very quickly, which surprised me. The last I had change and leap, but could not find gentle. So close! Very nicely done.
Thanks Snowdog.
This is one of those where a number of different words can be used. I only matched one of the author's. Did not care much for it.
Sorry. Better than I can do though.

Wow. This does not bode well for me. I did this puzzle one month ago. I recognized that I did it a month ago, but I could not recall the answers and had to think through it again.
This time, I got fountain/indigo/goof for #1. Again, I got change and leap for #3, but failed to find gentle! Old dog. No new tricks. I'll do this again in a month and enjoy as new, I'm sure.
Glad to see this new puzzle made Teaser of the Day! Gratz TFF, and well done Eds.
If anyone else finds alternate answers, toss 'em in here. It will make for interesting commentary.

Hi Snowdog. Your alternative answer for number one is valid. I would have preferred that there was only one correct answer for each item, but it is not easy to anticipate every possibility. But kudos to you for coming up with it!

Tough teaser. I could only get all the words for #1. I could not get #2 and only a word or two of the others. Enjoyed this very challenging teaser.
Thanks Mr. Bill. I'm glad you still liked it!
Well done, not too difficult, thanks!
However, "Merciful" means: gracious, lenient, compassionate; not the same as gentle?
