Terrific puzzle. Sadly, I said the answer was "history" because it is the only entry where the last four letters do not form a word. I was lazy and didn't look for a better answer before checking my answer. Well done.

Antelope could also be an answer as it is the only word on the list to start with a vowel.
In addition, antelope is the only word on the list to end in a vowel.
