Perimeter Breach
Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
Although I offer a circuitous route
Your ultimate purpose I may amply suit
I don't get unhinged, though pushed around all day
I'd serve no purpose if I never gave way
I'm a gate of sorts, and access I'll permit
Provided, of course, security sees fit
What am I?

Answer
a revolving doorlines 1-2: A revolving door goes around in circles i.e. "a circuitous route". However, it fits into one's "ultimate purpose" of reaching their destination, by providing a path to it along the way.
lines 3-4: Despite being "pushed around all day", a revolving door cannot "get unhinged" since it has no emotions. And it would "serve no purpose" if it "never gave way", or never yielded, to those who push it (around).
lines 5-6: A revolving door, being a point of entry into a building, enables access to the building, so long as it is not locked by the security personnel of that place.

Very nice. The unhinged door. I am a big fan of revolving doors. I only recently admitted to myself why. I'm legally blind, white cane and all. Revolving doors let me avoid the social obligation of visual communication between people on either side of a glass door negotiating precedence. To use a revolving door, you just aim and go. There is no two way traffic. It is surprising to recognize somethings about yourself that has been subconsciously driving your behavior.
Do revolving doors spin clockwise in England?
No.
But they spin counter-clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.

Too funny LGM!
This honestly made me curious. Turns out most countries that drive on the left side of the road also walk that way, so revolving doors do turn clockwise. Always learning new things from Braingle!
Plus getting a great laugh from LGM's comment.
