Brain Teasers
Poisoned Apple
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Legendary Madadian mass murderer, Shorty O'Cheekclencher, was confessing to one of his unknown crimes while on his death bed. He explained how he managed to poison someone by sharing an apple with him. It was the victim's apple, and the victim had the free choice of which piece either he or Shorty ate, yet the victim died of poisoning after eating his half of the apple that Shorty had sliced. There was no swapping of apples, nor was the poison administered to the victim in any other way, and there was no known antidote for the poison.
How did Shorty manage to poison only the victim's half of the apple?
How did Shorty manage to poison only the victim's half of the apple?
Answer
The poison was on just one side of the blade of the knife Shorty used to cut the apple. He asked the victim which half of the apple he would prefer, and then cut the apple with the poisoned side of the knife towards the victim's half.Hide Answer Show Answer

It's ok. Put some more periods in next time. The entire thing is a run on sentence. It's kinda confusing.
I think you will find an adequate amount of fullstops and comma's in the above teaser.
^^^wat he said.Very good work.
gj, smart thinkin
Never would've thought that one up...a little boring though.

Ever seen "The Princess Bride" ???
All you have to do is become immune to the poison.

I thought that it was kinda easy...It was the first thought that passed through my head, but I had to re-read it just to make sure it worked....Good job ... I really liked it mad-ade
I figured he just bruised one side of the apple and placed the poison on the other side. The other person wouldn't take the bruised side (assuming they are nitpicky)
g8 1 mad-ade! i like it. good job 8^)
Yeah, I thought it was the Princess Bride thing too
the Princess Bride is a movie,if this teaser was based on it without permission,mad-ade may get in trouble for it,how,i dont know, but he could
gr8 puzzle!
That's awesome! Smart villian. Evil, but smart.

C - L - E - V - E - R !
At first. I thought like noctividus. Then I decided that mad wouldn't lift a teaser from a movie, and figured out the knife. Good job, liked the teaser.

neat, but if the poison was on one side of the knife, and when it smuged against the other half, the poison would get on both sides, right?
maybe, but not enough to cause them any serious harm.
I know im over thinking this, but if one side of the knife was poisoned, and he cut the apple, the poison would still get on both halfs causing both of them to die. Think about it, when you cut an apple, it is still closed until the whole thing is done being sliced, so the poison would run onto the other half. If the way I worded it made since. But ya, I think it wouldnt work, but I am over thinking the whole thing.

Great one!!! i thought he poisoned the skin or something, and just ate the inside.

i know it's completely irrelevan, but no mistress, mad-ade would not have gotten in trouble for lifting the idea for the teaser off the princess bride. in order for a copyright violation to have occurred, the copyright owners must shown that a "substantial part" of the movie was used, and i think they'd have a hard time convincing a judge/jury that a five line teaser comprised a substantial part of the movie...
very nice it was not too easy and not too difficult but why an apple?
Wow, I can't believe I got that first try. Very nice

heard it bfore

only half the apple made me think of snow white .. hehe. I also thought it might have been a Princess Bride idea, but this answer was CLEVER!
i figured the apple was already cut. what's the Princess Bride? ive never heard of it.
Loved it! I wish I'd thought of it!
By the way, in response to the Princess Bride people, (and in the spirit of nitpicking), the poison used, iocane powder, is described as the deadliest poison known to man. Given that there are many poisons which are biologically impossible to develop immunities to, such as cyanide, it is highly unlikely a poison deadlier than those could dvelop a tolerance.

I've been presented with this teaser many times before at school. I don't think that this could qualify as a crime. Wasn't it two glasses with iocane powder in them in the Princess Bride?
It's a good teaser. Stop nitpicking.
