Brain Teasers
Depressurization
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
A pilot was flying alone at 30,000 feet altitude when he heard a rattling noise in the plane. He immediately depressurized the plane (let the air out) and allowed the pressure in the plane to drop to that of the outside atmosphere. A sudden depressurization is generally considered very dangerous, so why did he do this?
Hint
He did this for his own safety. The rattle alerted him to a problem which might become dangerous.
Answer
The rattle he heard was a rattlesnake that had somehow got into the plane. By depressurizing the plane, he starved the snake of oxygen and it died. He was wearing an oxygen mask and survived.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

I don't like these types of riddles....i mean theres always SO many possible answers....
If there was a snake in the plane, then he wouldn't really be alone...
HOW DID TEH SNAKE GET IN IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! IT COULD HAVE BEEN HIS BABY SON WITH A RATTLE DRM AND IT NEVER SAID HE WAS ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i thought it would have something to do with really technical plane stuff, but it had even more to do with nature and animals and sciency stuff. OH well, i wouldnt have gotten it anyway... good teaser!
SOME people need to read the sentence or two right underthe title of every situation teaser...
Honestly, if you hate these teasers, don't read them! People are so dim nowadays...

why is there a darn snake in the first place? i didnt know snakes could fly around 15000 ft higher than birds

I must admit, Sirtidus has a point. And am I the only one here who feels sorry for the snake?
Or, as I like to call it, "Snakes On A Plane 2: Revenge Of The Rattlesnake"...
Unless... THE SNAKE SECRETLY BROUGHT AN OXYGEN MASK!
Oh, and, uh, sirtidus218, it does say he's alone.
