Fish can drown. If there is not enough oxygen in the water they are in they will drown.
Fish can "drown" depending on how you want to semantically define drown. However, there would still be 7 fish, only three would be dead.

hahahahaha
another scenario for fish drowning is if they don't have water constantly flowing over their gills. ie, if they are forced to remain stationary in still water, they will drown. Even so, good puzzle. i thought the answer was that there are still 7 fish, it's just that 3 of them are dead!
Yeah, fish can drown. It says so on a Snapple cap
Fish can drown. It's a good try, though!
My friend told me that if you pull a fish backwards to much water will flow into its gills and it'll 'drown'. Is this true? Anyway good try. Maybe next time you could research your teasers more. But, shouldn't the editors have picked this up?
Okay, even though a "technicallity" is shown in other coments, I thought this was good, as I said seven, but obviously fish can't drown. Good teaser.
It fooled me!
nice got me 1st time then i got it when i read it 2nd time
1-Fish don't drown
2-Even dead they are still in the tank...so 7!

I'm so stupid LOL! I only ran through the sentence with a glance.
Fish can drown from lack of oxygen
Even if they can drown (from lack of Oxygen), then all of them would drown, not just 3 of them. I liked the teaser, though!
The question asked was how many, not why or how...
What if they had their gills removed? THEN would they drown?
TRISKET IS RIGHT
There are still 7 fish. 4 live ones and 3 ones.
"When a fish is taken out of water, and exposed only to air, not to oxygen and hydrogen containing water, its gills are unable to control the oxygen intake, the delicate balance cannot be maintained, and the gills inhale a lethal overdose of oxygen. The fish essentially experiences death by "drowning." "
Good teaser. Ignore everyone else's comments.
omg these people.... great teaser!!!
Well, it is a bit misleading when it is possible for a fish to drown, albeit not in the same way humans would.
Nevertheless, the answer is still that there's seven fish in the tank, because it never references anyone removing the fish.

Fish can "drown" from being in air. However, if 3 fish died, all of them would still be in the tank unless the dead ones were removed.
I'm with pretty much everyone else here. Do I need to say anything?
