Not necessarily. It depends on how your holding the socket. If you hold the bulb stationary with your right hand with the palm up facing you, and grab the socket from the top with your left hand, you would rotate the socket to the left, or counterclockwise from your point of view, to loosen it. 
You don't screw things to the right or to the left, clockwise or anticlockwise, which depend on your perspective
It also depends on whether you have the light globe facing towards you or away from you.
