Brain Teasers
The Rope
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
There were 11 people dangling from a rope over a cliff. They were in grave danger. They all decided that one person should get off because if they didn't the rope would break and everyone would die. It was a real moment of desperation.
No one could decide who should go so finally the woman gave a real touching speech saying how she would give up her life to save the others, because women were used to giving up things for their husbands and children.
But she didn't die. Why?

This is a very popular blonde joke... thats not fair now is it?
a little bit too many possibilities, and the end one is sort of unintelligent, unless we suppose the other people are one fry shy of a happy meal
That was just mean to the men out there...... I'm never going to go near any cliffs ever.
This was a hard teaser because the answer was not very ovious.
I was sitting here for half an hour trying to solve it but i gave up.
I suppose teasers aren't meant to be obvious so i suppose that it is clever

Am I the only one here that knows this person probably stole it from a magazine called "Readers Digest"? It was in one of the humor sections.
Is there humour here?
I heard this one as 2 bonde and a brunett- Guess which one lived? No offense to any blondes!
yeah i've heard it before as a joke, though i was hoping it was a variation when the hint said that it was a "moving speech" i was hoping that the speech had "moved" her off the rope, thus helping everyone
hmm, being a guy, a really didn't appreciate this one that much. Its not plausible, and insulting as well
Come on. Who would be stupid enough to clap when their life is in danger? Anyway, if she can have enough time to make a long speech without the rope breaking it's probably a lot safer than it seems. But honestly - when your life is in danger, would you be listening, and then clapping modestly at the end? I think not.
Sorry, but I didn't like this teaser.

I'm a guy, and I liked it.
I've heard it before, but I still liked it. It was an oldy but a goodie.
I have the potential to think logically,
no, it's not plausible that they would clap...
but nobody said that teasers had to make perfect, realistic, flawless sense.
Have some spirit, guys.
Gosh.

That woman should feel terrible. She made everyone die by honoring her.
