Draw a Line for an A
A math teacher I had in high school gave a challenge to the class at the beginning of the semester. The challenge was going to be worth an A for the semester. The challenge was to draw a picture of a line and turn it in. With in a matter a few minutes the teacher had 30 pieces of paper on his desk with straight lines on them. The teacher threw them all in the trash saying none of them were right. Why?
Answer
The teacher informed us according the laws of Mathematics and Geometry a line has no dimension and continues on forever (dimension being depth, width, or height). Therefore drawing a true line is impossible.Hide Answer Show Answer

You must have gone to an advanced school or everyone I know is slow. No one I know knew this at a grade school level.
I'm with you stonemug.
Rite beside ya stonemug, and I think you the offensive guy learned it and "FORGOT"
I was thinking if you ever took a picture of an accepted line (the line they draw), then due to perspective it wouldn;t be as stairght, so they had to draw something curved.
Well you can draw a line if you take a cartegean plain (sp?) and draw whatever straight line, then do an arrow pointing away on each side to signal an infinite distance in each direction.
heck i knew this when i was only 11.
Just draw an arrowhead on each end of a line segment and it represents infinite distance in both directions, i.e. a line. The teacher only asked for a picture of a line, not an actual line.
I found the calculator very useful in answering this one.
