this is wrong the solution would mean you had burned 110 candles, but the riddle says you only burnt 100
Peter is right. It is not mentioned that you burned the 10 candles also.
Reworded for logical completeness:
If you can make one candle from the remnants of every ten candles you burn, how many additional candles can you burn from an original batch of 100.
If you can make one candle from the remnants of every ten candles you burn, how many additional candles can you burn from an original batch of 100.
ARGH!!!... not a good riddle answer is 10
the answer is 11 b/c burning 100 candles will give 10 candles, but when you put those 10 candles together you get an 11th candle. the problem with the teaser is that it wasn't stated that the 10 candles would be combined to make one. both 10 and 11 arew correct, depending on how the teaser is worded.
hey peterA, how do you get the comments in bold?
