that was pretty tough...i got the fall part but not the pride

The expression is "Pride goeth before the fall".

If you have personally heard someone use Goeth in everyday conversation i nthe last 20 years I will personally buy you a beer. I am guessing you haven't. Please get a life-eth

yes, goeth away.
Alta Vista search:
1,700 "pride comes before the fall"
40,100 "pride goes before the fall"
10,800 "pride goeth before the fall"
I'm a little surprised to see that "goes" outranks "goeth". Obviously the Internet has been taken over by people who are poorly educated. It's a set phrase, and the word is "goeth". Using "goes" is okay but it's more erudite to use the original.
But I am globberfrusted to see that "comes' has currency at all. It appears to be the name of a TV show. So your puzzle is not a famous expression, but a TV show name that is a turn on famous expression.
With the rebus as presented, "goeth"/"goes" is a better answer than "comes".

I do try and cater my teasers for people living in the 21st Century. I could write all my teasers in latin i suppose, or indeed maybe in shakespearean english mayhaps?
If I wrote a teaser that contained the word goeth It would get derided at best. Not understood at worst. If you are after originally worded rebuses try www.HeyNonnyNonnyMedievalRebus.com...........

Well, I got it and I liked it. Thanks for another great teaser!

You could alternatively try www.yeolderebusemporium.co.uk or even the great book "Doeth my rebus looketh big it this?"
I did a search in E-sword on a King James version because I remembered it as "goeth", and lo and behold, here's what KJV has got in Proverbs 16:18.
"Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."
"Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."
By the way, I liked the teaser.
It was a good teaser. I totally missed the pride part!
