Chickens
A farmer knows that 20 of his hens, housed in 3 coops, will hatch 30 eggs in 21 days. How long will it take 30 hens, housed in 4 coops to hatch the same number of eggs?
Answer
You can't shorten the process of egg-hatching by increasing the number of chickens. Therefore, 30 hens will also need 21 days to hatch their eggs.Hide Answer Show Answer

Good one!
How is this correct. You have more chickens therefore the output of total eggs per day will be higher therefore the days to produce that many eggs will be shorter. This doesn't work otherwise you are telling me that a farmer with only a couple of chooks can produce the same amount of eggs as an egg factory? I think I realise what you were getting at here however the wording is awry.
Maybe the other 10 chickens are sterile and can not lay eggs.
Super Fun... Hatching is clearly different from Laying and Hatching
dsquared - the 30 hens could lay more eggs, but the eggs that they lay would take the same amount of time to hatch as the eggs laid by the 20 hens (so 20 hens could lay 30 eggs that require 18 days to hatch, and 30 hens can lay 45 eggs that also require 18 days to hatch)
I mighty have known the answer if I had known that it takes 18 days to hatch eggs.

I mean brain teaser, crazy keyboard!
I don't really get it.
I was thrown off by the fact that the hens were hatching eggs in 18 days - a real chicken's incubation time is 21 days, not 18.
