Brain Teasers
Mr. Masa's Cappuccino
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Mr. Masa was sitting down for his afternoon break. He relished these moments when he could get away from the office and all its chaos.
As he was sitting down with his cappuccino (Mr. Masa's favorite) he heard a bloodcurdling scream. He spilled his scalding cappuccino all over his brand new white shirt, and ran to the place from where he had heard the scream come.
Standing over the dead president of the company were three people: the secretary, the janitor, and the vice-president.
Clutched in one of the president's hands was a ticket to Bermuda, and in the other, a note of resignation.
Who killed him and why?

Hint
It's not Mr. Masa, he was drinking his cappuccino!Answer
It was the vice-president. The president was running the company very poorly and had lied about how much profit it was making. The company was almost bankrupt. The vice-president heard that the president was fleeing to Bermuda, thus leaving the vice-president with the bankrupt company. The vice-president killed him so he could make it out like they couldn't run the company without the president and shut the company down quietly. That's just what he did. Too bad, if you got this right and you were the detective, you would've convicted him.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

I got the right answer but I thought it was because he was leaving with the secratary who was the vice's wife.
Too much info in the answer. When the answer is that long, it's impossible to get. Pretty good though.
It could be anything. The secretary could be his wife and he was resigning and leaving for Bermuda without her.
Here's what I thought: I thought that the Janitor was running away with the Sectratory (who was the vice-presendents wife) and the Vice-presendent found that SOMEONE was running away with his wife, but he didn't know WHO. But, the janitor found out that the Vic-presendent found out, so he met the presendent in the hallway and gave him the tickets, but the vic-presendent found the presendent in the hallway, and he thought HE was running away with his wife so he shot him. lol................
Great Teaser!
I thought it was that the vice-prez wanted to be prez. and so he killed him and put the ticet in his hand to eliminate him as a suspect.

Who said the prez or vice prez was a man. You are all talking about there wives when they could be women them selves!
There is no information given in this teaser to reach any conclusion. Any answer you care to give would be as right as any other.
horseluver is right, the answer was a bit long, sorry!
The hint was not needed.
Quite a few situation teasers are like this, but it was too vague to get THE correct answer. There were lots of others in there that could also have been right.
I think the author could add a little more information (which he/she probably knows about the situation) so as to justify the given solution more than others - at present it is hard to see why this explanation is better than any other.
While it's true that situation puzzles often have multiple solutions, I find them most satisfying when you say "Oh, of course!" about the solution given.
