Is it me or should this have been under the letter-equation category?
Excellent! Great books, great movie, great puzzle! However, surely this is a rebus...
Lord of the rings has disgusted this www and I hope this tells you something .P.S.THIS COMMENT GIVEN BY LAVASAW's MA
The full poem is:
Three rings for the Elvin, kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf lords, in their halls of stone,
Nine for mortal men, doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord, on his dark throne.
In the land of Mordor, were the shadows lie,
One ring to rule them all,
One ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all,
And in the darkness bind them.
In the land of Mordor, were the shadows lie.
The reason why only part of the poem was on the ring is because only part of the poem would apply to each of the rings.
For the Elvin ones it would say on them;
"Three rings for the Elvin kings under the sky."
For the Dwarf's;
"Nine for the Dwarf lords in their halls of stone"
Etc. etc.
Am i a fanatic or what???

Considering I am a hard-core Harry Potter fan, I am quite surprised I knew this one.
no one would get that. it's way too difficult. how many people do you expect to read whatever that book is.
and also remember such tiny details like this.
I love LoTR. I like Harry Potter too, but not as much. I agree with Aurora, this is definitly a rebus.
USERNAME needs to be a little more accepting of others likes. This was a great one and the hint was perfect. I knew the book/movie, but didn't know the whole quote.
username, everyone knows about the LOTR, and, seeing that the trilogy grossed $1,031,300,000 not including the immense amount of money gained through dvd sales, toys, etc., it is safe to say that many people have more than just heard about the books. This would lead those millions of people to hear that section of the poem more than 3 times at least.
Hmm... it doesn't imply common knowledge so i don't suppose letter-equtions fit better. But, still good fun. Keep them coming.
I'm one of the few people on this planet who hasn't seen this movie.
Wow...people can get quite upset when they don't know the answer...*cough*username*cough*...but I knew this one with only reading the first line...I know I'm a geek. I actually haven't read the book in quite a while though. Well, regardless of what other people said, I thought it was a good one!
I never would have gotten this, but I think that it is a good teaser idea. Good Job.
I liked it, though I do think it would fit better in letter equations. I've read the books several times, as well as others by Tolkien. The movies were excellently done.
A rebus this should be.
