Tall Story 2
Once again, the Booker Prize panel are sitting. And again an excerpt from a book has some key words missing.
Can you fill in the blanks so the story makes sense and also spot the connection between them?

"It isn't my ____!" wailed Mr. Ix noisily.
"It ____ you right," replied the officer.
"Will it come to ____?" Ix inquired.
"If you keep up this ____ it will," the officer replied severely.
"It is not as if I gained any ____," Ix said ____edly.
"I would ____ to ____ you off with a caution," admitted the officer, "but I can't allow you through the ____ on this one," he continued.

You have done a couple easy ones lately, but no matter they were both good.
As a Counselor eyecue, I'm sure you appreciate the importance to involve and cater for all abilities
That one fit my abilities.
Finally I got one. I appreciate the easier ones as I just started.
I usually don't even come close .
Thanks for the ego boost.

It was easy, but fun. Also, note that where you used Racket, Volley would work too - as they volleying back and forth verbally.
Great job as usual, Mr Ix. Keep them coming.
Ah, but its takes two people to volley. The officer was admonishing Mr.Ix's behaviour only.
I agree with jpfrank1 it was nice to actually answer one I'm new too and get somewhat frustrated
when they are to hard, I like this gentlemens contributions though

It was fun!!! Next time, instead of using words related to the theme, just fill in your own!!!! It's more fun that way.
That was pretty good...i guessed a couple of the words but not all of them
the whole time i was thinking it was "sh*t" but i knew better.
Clever and fun, but basically the same as yesterdays. How many of these are we going to see?
blegh
Great work! I got the connection after "streets of Wimbledon" and the first two blanks. Once the theme 'tennis' popped into mind, it was easy to fill in the rest. Had lots of fun with this one, keep those coming!
I didn't look at the hint until I was stuck on one of the last words. As soon as I saw the hint, I easily filled in the rest! Really enjoyed this one - even if it was easy. We need easy ones to balance out all the really tough ones.
I like tennis. Could you of said "ace" in any of your things?
I think this teaser is ace?
how about that ????
how about that ????
THIS TEASER, SHOULD HAVE BEEN SEEDED MUCH HIGHER AND DUSTED OFF MUCH MORE RECENTLY.
EASY, BUT QUITE ENJOYABLE.
EASY, BUT QUITE ENJOYABLE.
I got most of them. I understood right away that it was tennis terms. Very well done.
Cleverly worded and fun. I realised quite quickly that the link was tennis, but it took me a bit longer to work out all of them. Thanks.
very nicely written..a little to easy.
por fabor
That was really neat. I didn't really attempt it, but having read the answer, I kinda wished I had
I liked that one..realised it was tennis after fault and serve, but took a while for some of the others to fall out from between my ears...was he driving a 'deuce coupe', from one of the old beach boys songs?
this one stumped me. not a big tennis fan. great job.
I'm moving a little slowly this morning...mentally that is; I didn't get it. However, I did think it was another great teaser!
As they are dialoging, RACKET could also be VOLLEY, no? I first thought of MATCH, but I like VOLLEY better. Though I do see that RACKET was set up by "noisily" in the first line. ~Luca
Verrrrry well done! I give you lots of points for this one, it must have taken you a while to think this one up. Love it !
Got a couple of them.. probably could have gotten more if I didn't give up so soon.. Oh well! Still a good one and well written!
The hint helped, I started thinking tennis, but golf's my sport. Got any for that in future?
Got 5 correct anyway & really enjoyed doing this one.
Thanks Mrixolite

Thanks Mrixolite
I got that it was tennis but still missed 3, so I didn't think it was too easy. Enjoyed it.
Excellent! I immediately started thinking tennis when I read Wimbledon.
Nice one. I got everything but court, although instead of "racket" I put "rally" (as in, if you continue this argument. . .)
Cleverly worded little teaser. It was easy to figure out the tennis theme but had to think a little harder to fill in the blanks since I'm not a tennis fan.
said racket was game. And i did not get advantage, rest was very enjoyable. Well written.
That was really great! Being a tennis fan, it wasn't hard to figure out the theme, or the words. Awesome job!
I figured it was tennis, but being more a badminton player myself, I didn't know what the words were... O well.
I thought volley could fit where racket went. Enjoyed it.
well that was fun! It was easy for me since I played tennis in High School
Wow, that was awesomely done!! I'm glad I stuck it through to the end. I wasn't sure where things were going until I started jotting down several words that would work with some of the blanks ... and then I saw the link between FAULT, POINT, LOVE, and NET. No need for the hint, though I did remember to look at it before I checked the answer, and I LOVE how your hint was done!!
Anyways, instead of RACKET, I had GAME .. and I had that from the beginning, and it even helped me get the theme right.
"If you keep up this GAME it will!" See? It works! Game, set, match!

Great teaser. LOVE this one.
Good teaser, got the tennis link, but could not place all the words.
got all but court - thought it was 'will it come to PASS?'
I figured out the tennis bit but didn't get all the words Great teaser!
SMASHing!
The tennis part was easy to gather given where he was, but not being a fan of the game, I did not know all the terms.
Nice teaser. I didn't get all the words, but enough to get the drift.
I loved this one! And I don't even like tennis. But it was put together brilliantly! Mr Ix, this one was a.... grand slam. ;)
I had GAME where you had RACQUET (RACKET)...and I also feel that BACKHAND could fit where you had POINT, even though I also had POINT. Nice LOVEly job.
Cleverly written. I would have done better if I knew more about tennis. Thanks for a good one!
I am with Habs and gaylewolf on this one. I got some, but not all. I did not know all the tennis terms either. That is the problem with a lot of teasers. The author assumes that everyone knows about everything, and it just is not the case. Same on Trivia. Not everyone watches the same T.V. shows or goes to the same movies.
Okay nuff said!
Okay nuff said!
I'm with imurry on this one, well done!
Good one! I was able to get them all, except I had "keep up this GAME"
