Brain Teasers
The Stolen Baby
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
A woman was walking with her 6 month baby in a stroller. A man walked up and said, "My, what a beautiful baby." The woman said thank you and walked on. A lady came up and said, "What a nice baby boy, how old is he?" The woman screamed, picked up the baby and ran away. Why?
Hint
Her baby had been kidnapped months before. The police found the baby and returned it, but they never knew who had taken it.Answer
Since the woman's son had been stolen because he was a boy, she dressed him in girls' clothes. The lady obviously already knew that it was a boy and since the mother didn't know her, she must be the kidnapper.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

I like that....

thanks
I knew it was something to do with the word "boy" i just couldn't figure out what.
Good riddle though.

I second swissbank.
It's an excellent teaser! And a distinct real-life possibility!
Some years ago, a baby boy was kidnapped. According to the news, the baby had been born the same day as my own little son, and I identified with the mother of that child. When they found the tiny body, I wept. And I kept my own child indoors for weeks, even though the weather was lovely.

Swissbank, be nice. I liked it too, and MANY people will tell you that I am NOT pathetic. Got it? I AM NOT PATHETIC!!!
I thought of the solution, but rejected it because I couldn't think of any reason she would dress her son like a girl. No where in the puzzle did it say he was kidnapped because he was a boy.
This doesn't make sense.
Swissbank I am one of the many people that will tell you that Shadows is not pathetic (even if she does talk about Mindtrap a little too much ) and neither am I (even if I talk about Harry Potter a little too much). And if you're gonna be ignorant and not realize a good teaser when you see one you are the pathetic one
I almost forgot: nice teaser, missie
Firstly, what a stupid kidnapper. Passerby must have been laughing at her calling the baby a boy.
Secondly, this REALLY could happen. Not as scary as the ones about monkshood and the bubonic plague, but overshadowing nonetheless.
Thirdly, swissbank needs to shut up. I thought this teaser was cool, and since only two of mine have EVER been accepted, it's obviously better than mine.
Lastly, keep up the good work on the teasers!
