Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.Language
For each of the following, the answer words are a pair of anagrams which have the same spelling except for two letters that are switched with each other. For each, use the clue sentence to figure out the pair of words. Each sentence contains two clues, one clue for each of the anagrammatic words.
Example: He took the forefront in negotiating a settlement.
Answer: lead/deal (forefront=lead, settlement=deal)
In this example, the "l" and "d" are transposed between the two anagrams.
If you need some help, the hint gives you the number of letters for each anagrammatic word pair.
1) She exerted great effort in lifting the cabinet after which she was exhausted.
2) I'd like to enjoy some time with my book now, sweetheart.
3) The situation looked grim after we realized we had no transportation available to us.
4) The kids will make merry at the playground, especially on the seesaw.
5) My emotional state was adversely affected after reading a story of hopeless calamity.
6) Her consumption of milk and cheese has been on the rise recently, as indicated by the entries in her journal.
7) She inquired if anyone had seen the shipping container as it had apparently disappeared with no clue as to its whereabouts.
8) After he carefully backed into the parking space, he picked up the book on hold for him at the library.
