Band Camp V
A member of the drum line in Mogmatt's band figured out how to make his instrument sound like a bird chirping. How did he do this?
Hint
Marching bands typically play in full football stadiums.Answer
He hit his drum and had it echo against a stairway. This causes a difference in the times the echos are heard. This would also work in front of an empty stadium.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

I don't know of any bird that sounds like a multiple time-delayed drum echo. Maybe a goose.
kind of dry....
What kind of bird sounds like a drum echoing?
The reverberation of a drum in the manner described does, in fact, produce a pitched sound (maybe a resonance thing?), and the downward-curving pitch (due to the doppler effect) makes it sound like a chirp.
A bit open-ended of a teaser, but I'd been in marching band long enough to know the 'chirping' sound of an echoing snare drum.
