This could also work for ZERO
Take away ZER and you are left with O

Yeah gizzer thats what I thought as well!
Cool. Thanks for this teaser.
very hard for me without the hint. once i saw the hint, it took me less than half a minute.
heard it a trillion times
Yeah, I went with the zero at first as well, but then really didn't think that the letter "O" and the number "0" would be the same thing. But when I started working the numbers, I got it. Thanks...it was fun for me!
Nice one!
i came up with 'solitary' where you remove 7 letters and left with 'A' but then i guess it doesnt fit this puzzle
Zero came to mind after reading the hint
I liked the answer though :-) fun

Very nice
I came up with the same answer as Gizzer
I thought of zero as well... but there is also lone and only, playing on l's being the number one (and I suppose even more ironic is the letters you remove for lone is one too!)
Clever very clever......... no I didn`t get it LOL
It was tricky. After reading the hint I got the answer. Very enjoyable. Great job!!!
I thought it was zero too... well...
here we go on the make things up again..

I thought of the alphabet letter "h" spelled out as aych first. Anyone else think of that?
Not even worthy of a comment
I thought zero also
I didn't get it either.
Hate to tell you, but all of you are wrong. The answer to the question is "Yes".
Do I get any points for removing the letters: 'I' 'S' 'S' to come up with 'P' count
I came up with fail, you're left with "F"
too easy
moonkey, you get points from me!
At first I thought of boastful-ful=boast.
then I checked the hint, and switched to the zero answer others came up with

I really liked this one...it made me smile
And so did moonkey's answer, although it is a little inappropriate.

I also came up with 0. I took the word none, removed the nne and was left with o or zero. Sounded right til I saw the correct answer.
As soon as I looked at the hint I got five in about 1/2 a min also
is zero an actual number? it is nothing. moonkey's comment a little edgy but sorta funny nothing to do with numbers however
sometimes doing an easy one is good.

clever!
I thought it was ZERO. Take away the first three letters and you're left with O! but your answer works too I guess! Good one, fun and not too hard or easy!
I thought it might have been "elle" where you remove three letters and are left with "L." Same pronunciation, but different meaning, I suppose.
I was thinking zero also. But, five makes more sense, now that I see the answer.
Isn't this a duplicate?
anyway, funny!
anyway, funny!
I thought it was "okay", with the O, A, and Y removed to say K, because that's how it usually sounds when we say it. (I didn't look at the hint...)
But it was a fun teaser, and it makes you think of all the different ways we put english together.

Clever. As soon as I looked at the hint... i went through all the 4 letter numbers there are, and five came to my head pretty much instantly.
I was sure it was your, take away the yor and you have u....but realized it techhnically didn't mean the same. Didn't look at the clue Good one (also got a chuckle from moons answer.
LOL Nice teaser!!! ;)) =]]
it works for zero too. you take the z, e, and r and left with o which is zero. thats what i 1st thought of.

that was clever good job!
o is greek for zero and therefore fits as well.
Awesome teaser, keep up the great work!
coulda been zero too...
great teaser!
great teaser!
I liked this one. Thanks!
I really enjoyed this one! Although, there are several possible answers, especially if you take away the rule about taking away 3 letters from a 4 letter word. I too came up with zero - z, e, r = o or 0 after reading the hint.
Jake101~ Great Job! Very clever and very fun!
Moonkey1~Your idea of p i s s - i, s, s = P was also very clever if only the hint didn't say its a number it would work.
skatemom~Same goes for you. Very smart in coming up with fail - a, i, l = F! I give you an A on that one though!

LOVED IT!!!
didn't get this one
A lot of variables. Some slightly questionable. Interesting comments. I liked your answer best.
Good one, I liked it, and it sure inspired some interesting comments. Keep up the good work!
Wow, lots of viable solutions! I didn't come up with any. Oh well! Interesting teaser still!
very cool, never would've guessed it!
'one hundred', take away 'one', still have 'hundred'...
I can't believe this stupid teaser was repeated. There are too many answers.I guess it's because the editors are too lazy to review new submissions.
Better answers: four letters, ZERO -- delete ZER, you're left with O.
Five letters, AITCH -- delete AITC, you're left with H.

Lame
I agree with stephanofd
Bestgirl, where and when was stephanofd??
Pre-coffee I did not give it enough of a chance; when I looked at the hint, I never gave Roman numerals a thought!! Good solution!
Now, about the posts of the solvers who throw out the directions and hint completely. . . . !

Same thing here...thought of zero but since o isn't a 0...........
Good teaser!
Good teaser!
That is the first time i have seen that and it is awesome.. clever stuff.
Superb
I like the one that said "fail" the best. We all know that F is failing on a test or any other thing at which you can fail in, whereas V is a Greek letter and not English. At least that is my opinion. Don't waste your time on yelling at me as I won't be back tomorrow to read it.
This is an over used teaser with too many variables. Therefore on a 1 to 10 rating I give it 1 1/2.
All of the variables is what makes it fun!! I enjoyed all of the comments (except the negative ones) - I have to admit that I didn't come up with an answer of my own - just checked out the given answer, then read the other suggestions. Great Teaser!
I agree with the CatLadyVac - thanks! Fun puzzle - thanks for posting!
sorry - meant CatLadyCac!
Thou - tho = U
This was a good one! Even though there are a few alternate answers, they were all good!
I loved this one, even though I got it in a couple seconds. Just clicked. But I also love the comments with THOU and ZERO!! Great additional ones!
Fun and entertaining teaser; I got it very quickly.
I got Mine & I
I came up with "Zero", as well.
Plus: "Iris", although "I" is not an exact match?
Gr8 teaser, thanks!
