I don't think this is a trick!
Actually, it is, because instead of just coming out and saying can a man marrry his mother, or even saying can a man marry his brother's mother, he/she kind of cunfuses the question by going the long way around it. Nice teaser, pretty easy, but I enjoyed it.
true, but if you use common sense to get though each step, there's not much trick involved.
He can If he's a celebrant -If his mum was unmarried to begin with or divorced or widowed- he can marry his mum to someone.
Ya you are so right! Cool!
what if the man was brought up by this "mother", but not legally adopted in?
way to ez
I agree. The man could marry his mom to someone if he had the authority to perform marriage ceramonies. So, he would be marrying his mom - but to someone else!

Of course, in todays world, there is always this possibility:
He was born, and his parents got divorced.
His Dad remaried, and had another son -- his brother.
His Brother's mother is NOT his mother, so once Dad leaves the picture with another divorce or what-not, he COULD marry her.

Yes.. but if that were the case then the teaser would have said "half brother" not brother ^_^
