did you not read the proverb/thingy?
How would his six fingers point at him? This was a good skelatal attempt, but please try to add some more meat (or something like that).
The proverb was not in any way brought into the teaser part, so it makes it a bit confusing of what you are asking... I came up with 2 since each of the others points one finger... I don't see how he points at himself.
i totally got this right. the other 2 were pointing at him. he was pointing two fingers at them, therefore according to the proverb.. for every finger you point, 3 will be pointing at you. due two him pointing 2, he has 6 proverbial fingers pointing at him from behind, then the other 2 peoples one finger. that equals 6.
the proverb being serperated from the actual teaser was the setup, to give you how to solve the question. didn't confuse me a bit. and i read it wrong...the 6 proverbial fingers don't have to be "behind" the 3rd person, but they are there none-the-less.
Stop looking at the proverb as a theoretical concept.
Literally you are actually pointing 3 fingers at yourself when you point your index finger at someone. Try it.

This could be a good trick question if there wasn't the proverb added in there.
I don't know how your hand works, but my other fingers don't point at me, but rather curl a bit and point to the side.
Also, calling that a proverb is hyperbole. At best it is a saying. At worst it is an example of educators focusing on manners more than lessons.

There's some stiff competition, but this one's in the running for dumbest math teaser. Wrong category.
