Answer
The elements in the group have chemical symbols that are also the postal abbreviations of states of the United States.argon = Ar = Arkansas
flerovium = Fl = Florida
gallium = Ga = Georgia
lanthanum = La = Louisiana
manganese = Mn = Minnesota
meitnerium = Mt = Montana
protactinium = Pa = Pennsylvania
scandium = Sc = South Carolina
Eight of the elements in the pool have that characteristic.
aluminum = Al = Alabama
calcium = Ca = California
cobalt = Co = Colorado
indium = In = Indiana
mendelevium = Md = Maryland
molybdenum = Mo = Missouri
neodymium = Nd = North Dakota
neon = Ne = Nebraska
The other elements in the pool do not have the required characteristic.
