It's one of the hour-puzzles (meaning 1 hour = 60 minutes and not the time to solve it). 20m + 6m + 5m = 31 minutes, leaving 29m to the full hour. So I get 2 hours (or 120 minutes) to reach 58 minutes. Perhaps a bit abstract, but an easy way to solve it without pen & paper. Btw: I like your teasers. They are top quality!!

third=120/3=40, tenth=120/10=12, twelfth=120/12=10.
40+12+10+58=120.
40+12+10+58=120.
